      The other day I was looking at a Stats table of Bulldogs players since 1965 (when proper stats were first collected).

      Over that period, Matty Boyd, is our #2 ever possession winner, both in totals and average per game.

        Well I remember a patch maybe in 2011-12 where he would get 30+ possessions a game and just butcher it. He's probably my favorite player on our list, but I used to tear my hair out at some of his decision making. Doing much better these days.
        I'm not sure possessions are always a reliable stat.

            Of course possesions don't mean everything, but when a player has the longevity and grunt to be your 2nd greatest ball winner over a 50 year period, it's a fair testament to his quality.

                Longevity yes, and consistency. How guys can pay 200+ games of AFL in a career is beyond me, especially in the midfield.
