Do we have a 7 year curse?

Saw a post on another forum which claimed that we had a 7 year curse ie 1982, 1989, 1996 and 2003 were all really bad seasons for us.

Is this correct?

If so, is it just a stats thing or something odd behind all this?

Should we fear season 2010?

Doesn't explain some bad years in between eg 2004
We made finals in 75 too.

Look I'm an incredibly superstitious bastard when it comes to watching the Dogs, but this is ridiculous. At the moment if anything we've got a 53 year curse and it's time to break it.

There is no such curse. People look for anything to explain our lack of success on. The fact is we have a great window of opportunity over the next two or three years.

Of course there's a 7 year curse. It's an absolute fact. Every sane, rational, even headed person is aware of it. It is solid concrete irrefutable cold hard fact. We're all doomed......... DOOMED!!!!!!

They were all very bad years, no question.

You can take the sequence back a bit further:

1954 - PREMIERS
1961 - runners up (losing a grand final started the sequence?)

1968 - 3rd last with 5 wins
1975 - Neil Sachse - our worst year ever by a long, long way.
1982 - Last with 3 wins
1989 - 2nd Last with 6 1/2 wins
1996 - 2nd last with 5 1/2 wins
2003 - Last with 3 1/2 wins

We made the finals in '74 and '76, not '75. I too have pondered the 7 year curse but then bad memories of '80, '81 and '04 shake me out of it.

I used to be superstitious too, but it brought me too much bad luck, so I gave it up.

The 7 year curse is fake we have had plenty of bad seasons in between. Even though lately we seem to have a very bad season every 7 years I think it is just another excuse to explain mediocrity.
