2025 WOOF Best and Fairest Predictions

Ok woofers.....peer into your crystal balls, put your (insert valuable body part here) on the line and show us your powers of prediction with an early guesstimate on how Best and Fairest night 2025 will play out and why!

Will it be Bont again for a record equalling #7, will Bevo rehash the Snow Button speech of 2018, will Rory Lobb once again be crowned the champion of our hearts?!

Predict the following categories (incumbent in parenthesis) :

    - Charles Sutton Medal - Best and Fairest (Bontempelli)
    - Doug Hawkins Medal - Runner Up (Dale and Treloar)
    - Chris Grant Best First Year Player (Freijah)
    - Tony Liberatore Most Improved Player (Bramble)
    - Brad Johnson Best Team Player (Lobb)
    - Scott West Most Courageous Award (Jones)

    Me first :

    - Charles Sutton Medal - Best and Fairest - Number 7 is coming. Why - if he's fit no one is going to poll more or have a bigger influence on games than our Bont, he's peerless and barring injury (god forbid) he will equal West's record.
    - Doug Hawkins Medal - Runner Up - Richards. His form last year was incredible considering his move from HB and with a fifth place last year in his first crack at it I can see him improving further and pushing Bont for the Charlie.
    - Chris Grant Best First Year Player - Jaques. Everything you read, hear, see from this kid is pure gold. To me he oozes class and professionalism and already seems to play beyond his years. Leader at lower levels and I expect him to have an immediate impact if he can get a spot.
    - Tony Liberatore Most Improved Player - McNeil. Just because he was robbed last season.
    - Brad Johnson Best Team Player - Jones of the LIam variety. To me he's the ultimate team player, leaving his man to help his defensive mates time and time again. I think he would have won it last year but Lobby came home with a rush.
    - Scott West Most Courageous Award - Naughton. He does some incredible things on the ground and in the air, gets airborne and will put his head over it as well. Must be in the top 5 for this every season along with Libba so he's my pick.

      - Charles Sutton Medal - Best and Fairest - Bont, Might be boring but I can’t see a world where it isn’t Bont assuming he’s healthy.
      - Doug Hawkins Medal - Runner Up - Richards, I think we’ll see yet another jump from Ed where he overtakes Libba/Ads as the new number 2 guy to bont through hopefully another increase in midfield time.
      - Chris Grant Best First Year Player - Luke Kennedy, probably the hardest to pick not knowing a lot about any of the draftees but from what i’ve read, Kennedy sounds like a really good user of the football with a strong work rate who could be a handy player in the vfl or if he’s given a chance at Afl level this year.
      - Tony Liberatore Most Improved Player - Arty, we saw a glimpse of his talent at the end of last year and i’m hoping he might be able to take another step this year and find himself a consistent spot in the team whether that be in the forward line or on the wing.
      - Brad Johnson Best Team Player - Naughton, Hopefully we can see a bit more healthy year from Naughton this year and he can continue to play that role in the forward line where he might not be kicking 3 goals a week but he’ll be playing a big creative role for JUH and Darcy and allowing them to kick the goals making him the perfect unselfish teammate.
      - Scott West Most Courageous Award - Garcia, another tricky one but i love the way Garcia puts his head over the footy and attacks the contest potentially making him a worthy winner.

Runner Up - English. No preseason hurt him last year. He will have a big year.

                            Ok here i go .
-Charles Sutton Medal- Best and Fairest ( Bontempelli ). Gets my vote , this guy could have turned up for pre season a little under done , no one would begrudge him having a good rest and maybe a good holiday season , and coming back a few kilo over his playing weight, but no this man came back in tip top condition , ran brilliantly in the 2 km time trials , has been training the house down in pre season . He is the complete footballer , arguably the best leader in the AFL. So 7th medal .
                            - Doug Hawkins Medal - Runner Up ( English ) . Fighting fit this pre season , so with the ground work put in , i think he will be stronger and fitter , enabling him to roam more around the ground , and help control games .
                            - Chris Grant Best First Year Player ( Lachie Jaques ) . Jaques to my mind is the modern day footballer , reads the play well , strong intercept mark , and good distributor of the ball , knows when to jump when to stay back , and can run .
                            - Tony Liberatore Most Improved Player ( Ryley Sanders ) . Has shown with his pre season , that he is taking just that little bit more time to distribute the football , by hand and particularly by foot ( hitting targets ), and has improved his running capacity .
                            - Brad Johnson Best Team Player ( Mathew Kennedy ) . The epitome of a team player , does the hard yards needed , encourages players around him on and off the field , comes to us very highly rated as a leader .
                            - Scott West Most Courageous Award ( Ed Richards ) . Future b&f winner, runs hard kicks beautifully , head down bum up , leads by example .

Runner Up - Smads tied with Critter - brilliant training contributions (Shout out to DogTown who is coming hard)
Best First Year Poster - Rusty12 tied with Naughton100 - supremely talented youngsters. Great get by our recruiters.
Most Improved Poster - BulldogTragic - magnificent trading and recruiting research. Rises to the occasion every October
Best Team Poster - Bornadog another perennial star performer, (although a little slow picking up the new format.)
Most Interesting Poster- MJP - captures discussion with intriguing threads (can appear grumpy but is really as soft and sweet as sponge cake)
Most Courageous Award - Uninformed (of course!) Who else brazen enough to write such unmitigated drivel.

Oh! Did I read the heading wrongly?

                            Oops...

No. I did read it correctly after all. Everyone else just got it wrong.
