So… how do we kick 12/14+goals each week?

amazingly poor list management that he’s a lock in this side still
Yeah, mostly agree with you here, although the worst might be a bit strong.
From what I saw in the hitout V Essendon, Dolan was already very close to VDM, McNeil, etc, and I am not convinced we can finish the top 4 relying on VDM as that guy.
No way we get 2 goals per game from him, that is for sure.
In terms of list management, they tried one in the pre-season draft, Arty has failed to go past him, we now have Hynes and Dolan, signs here list management also know we need to get better in this area?

We keep looking at Arty as a small forward but in reality, he has played wing most of his footy life and is best suited up the ground abit.

His most consistent period in the senior team was as a forward though. Probably confirmation of where his progress is at.

I've been on this band wagon as well...at the same time, he's done 3x pre-seasons/seasons as a small forward now - maybe he should have picked it up??
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Definitely been trying to rectify in the offseason which is a good start, haven’t really made inroads yet though. I don’t really see Hynes as that player but Dolan looks very promising

I still like Arty in the HFF role, if VDMs role in the side at this point is purely based on running patterns then surely Arty could be taught this, with at least some offensive upside. I thought his progress was good in the 2nd half of the year in the 2s when he moved further up the ground, but still not really getting a look in if he’s not considered good enough for a praccy bit of a concern. I hope he gets some game time today in the 2nd half

Hasn't really played that role in the VFL. I think this year is make or break for Arty.

Darcy has it sorted. Will average 10 goals a game.

Stepping back, will 10-12 goals do the job? I wonder if the long term trend of prioritising team defence means teams score a little less this year. IIRC there has been a long term trend of lower scores for 20+ years.

It could. Why I had my comment about maybe it’s a silly question (at least at the 14 goal number). I hope you’re wrong because I want to see games with 25+ goals each week as that’s a better product, but you may be right.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Yeah I think the simple answer is kick it to Darcy 12-14 times a game.

Leaves us open to those big swings in momentum. One of the most frustrating elements of watching us since the flag that wagged has been seeing us pepper the F50, dominate for long stretches, but have little on the scoreboard to show for it. Then, the work is undone by a 10 minute, efficient patch from the opposition.

if you don’t get the scoreboard pressure on, the counter punch is damaging.

I would like to see the W-L ratio and margins in games where it’s been more of a shoot out c.f against the tight games around the 10-12 goal mark.

Only if McNeill stops hogging it first.

So after 3 games we're averaging 88 points (equivalent to 14 goals).

                                17.11.113 against Norf 14.13.97
                                10.10.70 against pies 10.16.76
                                12.11.83 against Blues 11.9.75

Darcy has 7 goals, VDM 5, Naughton and Mcneil 4, Sanders 3 and a bunch of mids/hf/HB on 2 goals.

How do you think the coaches are feeling about the offence component of our games? Are we making the most of our opportunities? Better or worse than previous years?
