My expectations aren't high. We are really battling with so much quality out. It's a big ask vs Pies at the G and on a Friday night.

I am unable to ever predict we lose but logic indicates so.
Daicos without Bont and Treloar threatens.
Our forwards also threaten.
We are older than 100 years, the club says 1877, some historians say 1876 and were in the original competition that the VFL broke away from. We are older than Richmond, Fitzroy, Collingwood, Hawthorn...
A1:
The Victorian Football Association (VFA), the first governing body for Australian Rules football in Victoria, was formed on May 17, 1877.
so we were in the first official competition.
Footscray an original site of Australian Rules.
Industrial Development: The 1870s saw Footscray become a hub for manufacturing and industry, with the wharves area playing a key role in Melbourne's industrial development.
Shipping and Wharves:
The dredging of the Maribyrnong River by the Melbourne Harbour Trust made Footscray a significant shipping area, with the wharves used for unloading stock and goods.
Industries:
Heavier industries like foundries, engineering shops, and the Gas Company established themselves in Footscray during this period.
Township Expansion:
Township activity expanded westward, beyond the railway line, into what was known as Upper Footscray.
Football Club:
The Footscray football club's ground in Lower Footscray disappeared in the late 1870s, and a new home ground was found at the "Northern" or Market Reserve.
Historical Significance:
The Footscray wharves area is considered historically and socially significant to the City of Maribyrnong, as it was one of the earliest port developments in Melbourne.
Angliss Meatworks:
Upriver of the survey area, north of the Hopetoun bridge, was the large meat processing company, Angliss meatworks.
Margin: Dogs by 8 pts, coming from behind
Our first goal: Darcy
Our top goalkicker: Darcy
Our best on ground: Darcy
Crowd: 68, 505.

Jetted in on the red eye with the pups. Hit Whitten oval up for some breakfast and a lot of merch we really didn’t need, got outside, and went through the museum.
Nervous and don’t feel at all confident, but aren’t we just conditioned for these things as Dogs supporters?
Let’s hope we get the Opening Round level pies and the Miihoceck out is worse for them than the JDG in (and the latter is an underdone rust bucket that they have brought back too soon and just stinks up the joint).
Either way, here’s to 100 in the big smoke.😀 1👍 1Comment

Who does what is irrelevant for this game, only a win (by any margin) is appropriate for our 100th year. The truth will set you free,
but first it will piss you off. ... Gloria Steinem.👍 3Comment

Said last week not feeling very confident about tonight and that feeling has stuck. I'll take a 'good loss' around 4 ish goals or under and of course wishing for a win! Hopefully we don't get belted especially in such a unique game and a few of the young boys can keep progressing. GO DOGS!Comment

Can't lose clearances and contested possessions like we did for most of last week - Pies will cut us up with their disposal, especially Daicos.
I'm bullish that we get it done, with the same group that got us over the line last week - Richards, Dale, Freijah, Kennedy, Naughton - and some increased output from Darcy, English and Lobb.

I've made a conscious decision to be cautiously optimistic of our youth, determination and vigour tonight. It might be the beginning of something.

First goal English
Best on ground Freijah
Most goals tied, Darcy, Naughton
I was also at the dentist today being tortured and the anaesthetic hasn't worn off. Still tipping a spirited effort regardless of the painkillers.
