Well his only got another 20 games to go for 50 . Lets see how he fairs in games 31-50. It could be 1 more season or 2 to persist....

But I get your point. How long do we persist with him vs using that list spot for someone else ? I don't really know if there is someone else better banging on the door of selection ???

      I’d like to see:

      In:
      Hynes
A.Jones (like for like for VDM)

      Out:
      Dolan
      VDM

At the ground it didn’t look like Buku was too bad. His positioning was perhaps too aggressive. I’ll need to rewatch the game again. If he needs to go Buss should come in to maintain the three tall forwards.

Im also not sold on baker, his turnovers got punished. If JJ is right he may aswell come straight back into the afl. I don’t think there is anything to gain nursing him through the vfl.

I’m bullish that Jacques will be in this side within 6 weeks.

            In: Hynes
            Out: VDM

If we had a few more ready I’d swing a few more changes. Don’t have the luxury yet.

            Fridge back.
            Gags forward.

Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I think we will want speed for speed. So it's either Arty in to take the VDM role, or someone like Baker moves forward with Cleary/Duryea coming in to the back 7.

Players under consideration to come in will be
Duryea, Cleary, A,Jones, Hynes and Poulter and Busslinger

We need to hear back on Vandermeer, Baker and assess if we continue with Dolan before we can try and balance out the team.

I'd suggest it could be Cleary for Baker, Poulter for Vandermeer and Gallagher for Dolan

I don't think Baker will be dropped.

I don't recall the incident - but fair enough if he gets suspended.

Have a look at Buss as the third for a month of footy. I kinda feel Buku has summited and this is as good as it gets.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I was surprised we played Bailey Williams back this week. I'd have him back on a wing, Baker out and Duryea & Cleary into defence. If Laith's fit, then maybe Dolan the other out to give him a spell.

I'd also rather see switch JOD and Buku if we are going to play both. Too early for Hynes, but can't wait to see him when he's ready.
"I'll give him a hug before the first bounce and then I'll run into my pack and give them orders to rip him apart."

VDM I suspect injured and Baker suspended, I’d drop Baker either way though he’s just not up to the standard required. Buku also out, don’t think we need him against Brisbane Id prefer additional run. If we need a 3rd tall id prefer to get games into Buss or JOD (Croft forward but maybe not this week) or JOD can just be a tall utility and play fwd/back/ruck as needed alongside the 2 keys at either end - I think this is a better fit for our list.

Weve started to get away from the speedy team we started the season well with, to accomodate Buku/Jod at each end.

Arty back in for VDM as basically our only other option here, Freijah back to replace Baker, Williams back to the wing, Cleary in for Buku, Hynes in to play fwd/mid.

West/Sanders & Hynes can cover Freijahs midfield time, we need him in defence right now. Dolan back to sub, he’s an impact player right now, aim for him and Arty to split one role week to week across the season until one or both of them grow productive enough for a full time spot.

Id also have Gallagher over Bramble as a personal preference but would be surprised if we made that call.

                                Gags Jones Cleary
                                Dale Lobb Freijah

                                Williams Libba Davo
                                English Richards Kennedy

                                Harmes Naughty Arty
                                Mcneil Darcy West

Sanders, Bramble, Hynes, JOD - Dolan sub

That side looks much more balanced to me, especially in the back half. Forward line is still a concern but yeah what do we do? Not exactly flush with options in the 2s which is why I want to fast track Dolan, Hynes and potentially soon Croft.

I really don’t think the team is far away from playing good footy, even with our outs, but there’s too much deadweight we’re carrying which gets shown up in close games. Baker, bramble, buku, McNeil, VDM etc they’re fine when everything’s going well but as soon as it’s not they’re just not much chop. They’re fine depth and if we have a couple in the side each week but when you’re playing 6 of them, alongside other young players who are inconsistent yeah you’re not going to win too many games.

Guys like Dolan, Hynes, Buss, Croft & in the next few weeks Jacques - I want games into, they might put in a stinker but realistically those C graders I named above also regularly put in stinkers, and at least this new batch of young talent have a lot more upside so we need to fast track them so they can become contributing AFL players sooner rather than later. If we lose a game or two because of it so be it, we’re not competing as a side in September carrying deadweight so I’d rather start building towards a team that CAN compete.

we’re not far off being that team, but we need to keep tinkering.
