Brisbane are winning but not exactly flying...

It feels like there is some 'resignation' about the result this weekend - we'll roll out there and Brisbane will beat us.

They're winning...but they aren't flying. They're playing OK but their scoring efficiency has really deserted them and they've gone from being a very efficient team to an incredibly IN-efficient team (a bit like us really).

YES - they have some forwards to worry about but in simple terms they really don't have a dangerous tall right now (Sam Day? Please!) and we should be able to make it incredibly difficult for them to score. I know they have Andrews to throw at Darcy - with solid back 6 support - but at the same time...

Heads up...it's gonna be OK. Dogs by 22 points.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Yep, I spoke about this in another thread.
This might be the most gettable they are all year.
    50/50 game for me.

A friend who is a Brisbane supporter says they haven't been really tested so far and he was looking forward to see how they will go against us. He was actually worried.

I think we do have a big chance to win this, especially the way we have been playing. If we finished our work off we could easily have been undefeated so far.

So, you're telling me that Eric Hipwood won't play like Wayne Carey like he did against us last year?

We also let Lachie Neale run loose & absolutely destroy us and given, we let Serong and Brayshaw do what they want on Sunday I have little faith we try and take away their strengths and have another ''honourable'' loss.

And that's all fair enough mate. I guess it just feels weird to me that after the Collingwood game everyone 'expected' to beat Carlton (who are actually playing OK - they just can't score) but we lose to Freo in Perth (which is a bloody tough match-up for anyone) on the back of 10-mins of footy in q2 and now we're immediately gonna lose to the Lions...who are 'just' going.

Their midfield is so strong, I'm not sharing the confidence.
One thing I noticed is they rotate through the CB quote often.
Rayner, Ashcroft, Neale, Dunkley, McLuggage all take turns through the CB.
Last time they did a big number of us.

The Lions are the reigning champs which I guess heightens our thoughts that it's going to be a battle... but yeah, the Lions are just doing what's needed to get over the line and their 4-0 record is flattered by the fact they've played the 2 worst teams in the comp already.

I was only a casual viewer of our game against Freo, but from what I saw we did lots right, but were let down by the fact that we made some awful skill errors and were easily scored against on the counter... but I'm buoyed by the fact that even though Freo were hampered with rotations we kept coming which is a consistent trait we've shown this season.

Lions won the flag last year but weren't perfect, and still aren't perfect this year. They finished fifth and played great footy in September (with a lot of help from Daniher).
                Results so far this year:
Beat Swans by 4 at scg
                Eagles by 19 at Gabba
                Cats by 9 at Gabba
                Tigers by 28 at mcg

So snuck past the finalists, and did enough to beat the bad teams while still letting them put up big scores (Eagles 75, tigers 90). They're not going to go undefeated through the season.

I don't think we win, but I can see similar games to pies and Freo where we are in the match but just not quite good enough for long enough.

Brisbane started slow last season but finally gained their mojo, think it was from our game when Hipwood spanked us, although we were down in personal in the backline which didn't help, pretty confident Jones and Lobb won't allow that again, that said good teams don't always play at their very best but seem to always find a way to win which looks like what they are doing, we can win, but we'll need to play at our best and bring the pressure.

I think it comes down to our work rate overall, but more importantly our midfield work rate. Their mid's are strong and we need to work bloody hard to match and at least break even.

I think how Naughton goes will play a big part in who wins and loses. If he can recapture some of this form from last season then we are half a chance to win, but another anonymous game from him and it will be too much on Darcy's shoulders up front.

Can smell an upset this week provided the midfield can break even.
