Geez what a luxury to have atm and Garcia is still on the injury list.
Sanders has barely played midfield lately, 1 centre bounce since Bont has been back, 6 the week before so very very little he’s been pretty much exclusively HFF - of course he still gets up and involved around the midfield after the centre bounce but I don’t really think his role will change too much at all with Treloar back

    Were definitely flushed for

Did Harmes attend a few CBAs last week in a run with role? That frees up some opportunity for Treloar. Harmes plays a little deeper, replacing Hynes.

If either McNeil or Treloar are ready I’d look to drop Hynes.

A massive game. The last three matches at least Port have smashed our midfield and made us look second rate.

Butters is in scary good form, JHF for some reason loves bullying us late in game and Rozee has found his groove on the back flank.

            A huge danger game.

My father and cousin, both my namesakes played for St Pats.
Bob Davis was asked his most satisfying victory and said beating St Pats as a Grammarian!

I saw G said JJ didn't train today.
So I'm guessing Treloar in, JJ out, with Freijah to half back and Treloar in to Freijahs role.

Sanders has been playing +1 midfield role pushing in from HF at centre bounces.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Yeah as have Richards and Freijah starting at either HF or HB (but more CBAs than Sanders)

I think Treloar will just add to this rotation and take a little time from each of them, rather than affect Sanders too badly,

i really like what we’re doing with one of our speedy mids running off half back at the centre bounce to hit the contest with pace from behind and either hit the legs to start some forward motion or be in the right position to cut off opposition if they get the ball going their way. Dale or Bramble sometimes start wing and then drop back to fill the spot that the extra mid was occupying when they hit up at the contest.

I think Treloar will also fit well into this rotation off HB. Sanders and Kennedy being slower are more effective hitting up off the FWD flank up to the contest where they can win the ball and feed it out to the runners hitting up from defence.

it’s a really dynamic mix right now

Whilst I’m very much aligned with needing more output from the likes of Dolan and Hynes, I really feel we need to be ultra conservative with Treloar and think a couple of weeks in the VFL program will be the best thing for him and us in the long run.

Our next 2 games are against teams with dynamic midfields, with one going to be played in foreign conditions so I’m comfortable to go with the midfield group we have available now, and look to give Adam the best possible chance to be a strong contributor in the back half of the year.

Being on the outside, how can we say that we haven't already been ultra conservative?

Perhaps he was 'ready' to play footy three weeks ago but we held him back?

If the club are saying he is ready for a game of footy, I expect them to put him straight in to the AFL side.

Judging by the (excellent) training reports provided to us this wasn't the case.

He is no-doubt a high-quality player, but in reality, we know that he has done his calf 3 times over the past 8-9 months and the step up in intensity from training to game day is massive... would hate for him to re-injure it and be out for another long period... but I guess he could injure it again at training, or playing VFL or AFL.

Training reports are excellent, no doubt. But again, they are only seeing the outside training. There is plenty they can't report on because they don't see it.

Nothing on the treadmill, weights room, indoor arena. We don't know if the injury was fully healed 2 months ago and we have gradually built strength. No idea if he's going for a run at home, or whether he's reporting pain after those sessions, etc.

Treloar is a pro, and in my eyes when he says his body is right then it's right.

I heard the other day that Treloar has NEVER played a state league game in his career, which I found interesting given he has been a fairly frequently injured player during his career.

I'd be happy for us to buck the trend and give him a week or two on managed minutes - and back in the current team to deliver again.
But ultimately players of Treloar's experience (and JJ similarly) know their bodies and readiness more than a younger player.
