    Guard of Honour

I’m curious if anyone else has faced a similiar situation that I have or not and what I should do.
as a thank you for being in my 10th year as a member, I received an invitation to register for the guard of honour at this weekends game. So far I haven’t heard back if I’ve actually been selected and by this point not hearing back, I assume I haven’t. To me it seems like a very weird thank you for being a 10 year member but still not get selected so in reality the thank you wasn’t anything.

Now I never expect anything, that’s not why I sign up as a member but it just feels weird and kind of wrong to get my hopes up with this as a thank you just to not be selected.. am I crazy?

I experienced something similar. Was asked if I would be interested in receiving a tour of the new facilities and to register my interest and preference of day/time.

I registered and sent an email saying im flexible on any session.

Same as you heard nothing back.
More of an In Bruges guy?

Recevied a similar email before the Collingwood game as a thank you for being a member since 1998. Registered and heard nothing back.

I suspect they email hundreds of members and pick a small percentage. I've registered for these things in the past and never been lucky enough to be selected (nor did I expect to) but I agree this email made it sound like you were more of a chance.

It’s good to know it’s not just me, and as I said, I get it and I don’t expect anything, just seems so strange the way they organise it. I’d be curious what the selection process is, whether it’s random or actually selected

Last year I was in the ballot for tickets to the W game at the G. Registered my interest and then never heard anything back (at least they gave a 'you will hear by X time on X date if successful' in the message). Guessing this is the same, which would be unfortunate.

Thinking about it a bit more though... probably half the club's members have been signed up since either we (or our parents) could first afford it and will never cancel, which could easily mean a thousand or more 10-year members. Unless they want to do a hundred tours, it'd have to be a low percentage of those that register that actually get picked.

You could call the club tomorrow to be certain, but I reckon they'd have told you by now if you'd been chosen.
