Sliding doors moment during SSP period

We had some interest in Dom Brew from Werribee during this time and opted to pass in order to keep a list spot free for the mid season draft. I know you can never have too many mids but in my opinion he would have simply taken up a list spot as he plays in an area we already have an abundance of options. Bont, Libba, Sanders, Richards, Freijah, Kennedy and the hopefully soon to return Treloar mean we can run different rotations at the oppo and not fall away in class and quality, injuries notwithstanding. With the list spot still free what positional type of player should we now be looking at?

There's still room the list for another ruck, a small forward, small defender (dashing or lockdown,) a medium forward or even a winger. Just about any player who might be good enough

I would love to see a genuine goal-kicking small forward or a backup mature ruckman

Another key back wouldn’t go astray either. Not sure there’s a gun small crumbing, quick, agile forward available. Guessing the top draft pick is way to go there seeing as they are rightly in vogue now.

Watching Smith struggle in VFL yesterday including missing some easy goals I wonder if a decent backup ruck is way to go too.

        Josie :)

        Our day will come
        And we'll have everything.
        We'll share the joy
        Just like '54 again.

Yep either of those would be handy.

With Marra effectively off the list could that mean we might get another pick?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

WOW that’s four people not just one. For mine with Cody out we need another small pressure forward
            BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

4 roles we could improve on (depth for ruck). Though Williams and Davidson are making their case to take wing off that list, Someone of quality in any of those roles wouldn't be surplus to needs

The chances of a mid season draft pick coming in and contributing anything meaningful this season are fairly slim. Any pick needs to be taken with an eye to the future of the list rather than looking at currently injured players. The exception of course is if you are desperate due to a spate of injuries in the one position.

It needs to be at least an 18 month investment unless they turn out to be a complete bust like Rypstra. Generally this will be a player likely to be taken in the national draft at year end that can be taken now to get a head start on their development for 2026.
