      1. Time to close the Ruck Me thread. Tim played his most dominant game for the year, pushed forward with results, and no longer do we have to put up with claims that we should have kept Sweet ahead of him
      2. Laith is our chief pest. Getting into Rozee’s head after Sanders’ tackle and goal was a thing of beauty.
      3. We cannot host a home game where capacity is under 5000. Many of us who would have gone couldn’t.

        We are the real deal.

If Jamarra can't get motivated to join in on this he's get no passion for the game. Cut him loose.

Bevo is the one, sign him up already.

          1. Its as much the rise in the level, and the consistency of sticking at it from our bottom 8 or so, that is really driving our improvement. Buku, Cleary, Bramble, O'Donnell, West, McNeil, Davidson, VDM have all improved and are more able to positively impact games longer, and more regularly.
          2. We've come through a difficult stretch of the schedule, but it doesn't let up, Gold Coast in Darwin, then Essendon at Marvel, and Geelong at their crap hole. If we keep this up, I'm genuinely going to feel optimistic heading into the Geelong game, and that never happens.
          3. We look a very settled and confident team, and I think our game stacks up.

            I wouldn't count on it.

Sweet started well, being physical at the contest and feeding their midfield to start clearances 11-0, and then Tim absolutely dominated for the remaining 100 minutes of the contest.

From approx 25 minutes into the first quarter we went +25 in clearances.

English himself finished with 27 touches, 3 goals, 17 (!!!) score involvements. He was flying for the ball, including running back with the flight, in a way he hasn't done for a couple of years. His handballing was incredible - the one to release Libba when we went coast to coast stands out, but there were a few other examples of elite speed and vision.

We're legit. There's still work to do but teams will be worried about us. Imagine losing two key forwards and getting better anyway.

We're developing a harder edge and it shows. Shades of 2016 and our physicality then.

I like Horne Francis and his attributes but man can he drop his bundle and go full sook.

I think I can live with the 16 extra hitouts Sweet got if he's putting a body of work like that together.

There is a lever which can be pulled to get English amped. He and we have found it. It’s beautiful.

Naughton still hasn’t quite found his hands but he’s come out of his shell being the main man again. Swagger back.

Our 12-18 players are the best we’ve had since 2016. By a long way.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Loved this comment from Bevo...foot on the throat!!!

"So even though we were at a decent margin we gave up almost half a dozen goals at the end of last week's game so we wanted to play to the line and play to the last minute, not give them anything easy, so he (Treloar) didn't need extra minutes on the bench."

Buku might be a better fit for this side than Marra ever could be. Buku always makes a contest up forward, effort is never conditional, takes his turn in the ruck and elsewhere when required and is the ultimate team man. Silver linings and all that.

When Timmy jumps instead of bodying up at centre bounces, he is so much more effective. Hopefully he does that every week moving forward. He was AWESOME today.

I knew we were in for a good day when Bont was spraying his stoppage team mates during the warm up, telling them where to stand, lot of shaking his head etc. That man was locked in.

Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Something changed with Bont and I like it. Did you see him get stuck into Sweet after the free he gave away? Also got stuck into Hill after the Libba chase down.

1/ Tim does have a bit of ‘dog’ in him after all… all we’ve ever seen from him is the mild mannered, dare I say timid ruckman, but it’s great to hear he was stung by his performance against Sweet in the corresponding game last year and went to work with an exceptional performance. We are such a good team when we have a combative ruck to lead our fully stocked midfield.

2/ Ed is a ****ing star. His transition from an awful HF, to a flimsy HB, to an AA type HB, to an elite mid has been great to watch. We’re all going to be very happy supporters when he signs a long term contract with us, but please do it soon as the monetary value is increasing by the game.

3/ Bevo’s in game coaching is where we need it to be. Making adjustments on the run, like Lobb to the forward line last week, and Libba to a white hot Butters yesterday. He is coaching very well at the minute.

It is a long season, let players build into it. Not everyone has a perfect pre-season.

The bulk of loose/ground ball contested winners we have a full strength around the ball will be too much for too many Oppo.

I tipped Ed to win the BNF, bugger that, he can win the brownlowe.

Buku can play anywhere, but him going into the ruck giving Tim a chop out seems to be working well with his leap and efforts in tight, he is almost the perfect sub but going on yesterday you want him to play a full game, whilst Crossley could have been an option for a list spot i'm not too sure we need him now if Buku continues playing this role.

Tim English, a lot has been said about his game yesterday as it should given his dominance and impact on the game, but his hands with a def handball are elite, a few times he gave a sneaky handball to a runner moving past with such poise, his confidence right now must be booming, his past month has been building nicely and now, that is the benchmark he can reach on a consistent basis and with our dominant midfield team, that balance is elite and will give us plenty to get excited about at the pointy end of the season.

Bevo, just sign him now, get it done.
