Who do we pay back into form this week?

Even when we're winning, it's such a Bulldog thing to do.
There's already a thread for the goalkickers but we do have a habit of taking an out of form opponent and getting them back on track.

This week it just seems set for Sicily to rebound. He's been well down but with West becoming such an important attacking option for us, the stage is set.

Hok Ball in general, watch the blow torch come out this week for the Hawks, mouth guards ready for their Tuesday session, do or die this week v the Dogs etc, hopefully Meek cops at least 1 week for his bump on Lipinski and i'll say Newcombe comes out and plays a blinder.

The Hawks won their share of the stats but the Pies really had them covered.
They'll come under some increased scrutiny this week with the media.

Hate how accurate this is. Like objectively we should beat them but objectivity in football is for nerds.

Anyway my picks are Wizard and Newcombe.

I think this team is different to teams of the past. Hawks will be desperate for a win, but I am backing our boys to get the job done. We will still be seathing for what they did to us in the finals.

My only concern is whether coming off a bye is an issue, just like the finals last year when I feel we lost momentum with the week off.

same, Watson been down a few weeks and Newcombe could get 20 possessions in a half.

I will never see #16 the same!!

Massive 8 point game it's time we win one of these, 6 and 6 just doesn't sit well with me.

Carlton were 0-2 and desperate to get the media off their back and we still beat them. Are we sure Hawthorn are THAT much better than Carlton? The Giants had an unconvincing win against the Saints and then kicked 34 points in a loss to the Crows before they played us and we still beat them comfortably. Are we sure Hawthorn are THAT much better than the Giants?

If we lose to Hawthorn, it won't be because they "just wanted it more than us" or because the media are after them. Footy doesn't work like that.

(nevertheless, I understand the feeling lol)

Their best is way better than Carlton, but they're currently playing well below it. Dylan Moore is playing hurt which has blunted his effectiveness. They're really missing Day.

For me English is the key. Meek has beaten him the last 2 times we have lost. If they beat us in the middle (Newcomb and Worpel) their little forwards will get too much of the footy. We need the ball in our half for a majority of the game to win.

I'm hoping English comes in with the grunt and menace he displayed vs Geelong. If he does this we'll win

I thought we were going OK until I looked and saw us on the same points as Essendon.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Hawthorn have just been going all season - prior to their 3 losses in a row, they dined out on a couple of soft kills (Richmond, West Coast) and in their first 5 games they made hard work of beating teams ranging from ok to mediocre.

That is a long sample size of pretty average footy - they are a talented team but it's not easy to turn the tap on automatically when you are the hunted like they are this year.
