That is a long sample size of pretty average footy - they are a talented team but it's not easy to turn the tap on automatically when you are the hunted like they are this year.
Adding Battle & Barrass has been a huge failure so for Hawthorn... their backline was humming with Frost, Scrimshaw and Sicily playing as the key defenders/ interceptors in the back half of 2024, but it's a mess in defence this year... this on top of Day largely missing and Newcombe out of form has made it tough for the Horks.

Agreed. The good footy they played last year is the exception to the rule and the ordinary footy they've played lately is their real form. They're a fairly ordinary team.

The fact they spent most of the summer being drip fed their own bathwater turned out to be the worst thing that could have happened to them.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Welp, at least we know it's not going to be Sicily.

It's like we don't plan for the opposition. We just hope we play really well but if we're not 100% on then there's no strategy to at least try to limit the oppo or make things tough for them.
