Bankers & Anchors: Round 13, 2025 vs Hawthorn

This is the Round 13, 2025 edition of the weekly Bankers and Anchors thread. Once tonight's game against Hawthorn has concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual player

Hard to bank anything after that. The most dispirited I've been after a game of footy for a while.

Meek gave English a bath. It's time for the English simps to face facts. Don't @ me because I don't care.

          1. English - his aggression and clearance work were very good tonight.

          2. Kennedy works hard

          3. Ed's goal was a ripper

          Anchors

          1. First quarter start was pathetic, although the rest of the game was even

          2. Set shot goal kicking should have put scoreboard pressure on

          3. Our kicking into the forward line also let us down

Good win by the Socceroos against Japan

I was massively disappointed by our captain tonight. He was unable to meaningfully impact on the game at all. There will be plenty of talk about McNeill, Gardner, Naughton and a few others (and rightly so), but Bont was horrible in the EF last year and he did not atone tonight at all to be honest.

Last few weeks Bont has not impacted at all - so is his preseason catching up with him? Is he injured, what is the issue.

Tim Orkney Islands - general form has started to pick up, but this match up kills us. Meek sets the tone.Soft anchor this weeke to be honest, less about Tim and more about his opponent.

Tactics - game was played entirely on their terms. Outnumbered at the fall of the ball, killed by their spread and overlapping run. We pushed up the defence high and they really broke lines through hard running and winning the crucial contested ball. When that wasn’t happening, it was all uncontested possession their way, chasing them to no effect.

West - pumping him up all year and he deserved it. First real stinker in a while. Missed opportunities, then tried to do much to have an impact.

Fellow Dogs fans for showing up to crap TNF and sitting through it. Was a tough watch.
