The Moment: Rnd 13, 2025 vs Hawthorn

The moment; the best, most courageous moment that caught your eye in tonight's game against Hawthorn.
Was it the moment that told you 'we've got this' or 'we lost this one right here'? Or was it the moment that you went 'wow....that is crazy courage'

Was it a collection of moments or perhaps one you felt had greater significance outside of the actual game's result?.. Or maybe it was a downright gobshite game, with little to crow about...but you know, you're still down to get your post count up

Tone was set in the first twenty seconds. That was my moment. The writing on the wall.

For me, Sanders running in off the opening bounce of the 4th QTR to make it a 9 point game and dribbles it. Then they go bang bang bang game over.

not saying he’s the reason for our defeat, we’ve been horrible all game. Bramble and Gardner are not AFL standard.

As soon as I saw Gardner was in the team, then when English missed 2 minutes in.

Sanders goal 20 seconds in to the last quarter might have made a game of it, but only because it might have made them change their brand. They got 5 goals up and were able to just control the game.

Our weak opening 18 minutes was the moment. They were up 5 goals to 1, and Mitchell was able to say slow it down, don't give them a sniff.

The moment I knew we were probably going to lose was the end of the first quarter. It just had the same feels as last years elimination final.

the moment I KNEW we weren't winning was when when a Hawthorn player miss-kicked into the corridor only for us to fumble the ball and not punish them.

To be a top 8 and dare I say it, Top 4 team you need to punish the opposition when given those types of gifts

Can’t recall the exact details but there was a turnover at HF for a good crack at putting scoreboard pressure on, turnover when Dale and perhaps it was Bramble fumbles, they go up and score on a fast break.

But about 5 mins the moment for me was noticing just how quick they were to spread and find the spare man, or overlapping player.

I'm going to be kind and say the Sanders miss in the last because the game can quickly change, but really, clutching at straws with that.

Whatever we did as a club and individuals to prepare for the contest is where the malaise set in. Hawthorn only needed to be matched for pressure and intensity for the first ten minutes and the voices in their heads would have started chirping away at them. How we showed up to the game seemingly oblivious to what they were going to bring in that first ten minutes is beyond my comprehension.

Because Bramble's such a good option to have the footy he's got to recklessly get in the way of Bailey Dale to get his hands on it..........

McNeil’s idiotic 50m backward switch to Gardner that gifted Chol another goal. Even if it had’ve worked it would’ve just been a turnover one kick later.

                          First quarter. All over.

But after that. 100% McNeil. Sucked any oxygen out of us we had left.

Margin is only 22 points and think about how many stupid errors we made that gifted them goals.

They just waited and then feasted on our stupidity, I’m sure many other coaches are going to try the same strategy.

The McNeil one where the ball inexplicably went flat mid pass.

Whatever we did during the bye, totally miss read the occasion. Everyone but the club could see this was a backs to the wall game for Hawthorn, and we were stunned by it for some dumb reason.
