The Moment: Rnd 18, 2025 vs Adelaide

The moment; the best, most courageous moment that caught your eye in tonight's game against Adelaide.
Was it the moment that told you 'we've got this' or 'we lost this one right here'? Or was it the moment that you went 'wow....that is crazy courage'

Was it a collection of moments or perhaps one you felt had greater significance outside of the actual game's result?.. Or maybe it was a downright gobshite game, with little to crow about...but you know, you're still down to get your post count up

        Fogarty starting on Coffield.

It's was all down hill from there. Terrible performance by the MC before we even started.

This wasn't the game changing moment, but it was probably the moment where I just didn't bother entertaining a victory because of the class disparity. Sam Davidson's uncomposed high floater when running off a contest to half forward was just putrid. He's been really good this year, but that's the type of thing that I think might have kept him out of the big league prior.
          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Dolan overturned goal in the 3rd. We had a good patch before that, and would have brought the margin down to under 2 kicks had it not brushed the post.

It felt like Adelaide had our measure all game to be honest, but the scoreboard pressure might have made things interesting.

              Selection.

We had zero chance with that back half unless we absolutely dominated them in the midfield.

Dolan's goal being over turned was a momentum killer.
The Centre square bounce that should have been recalled really impacted us

Felt it strange that when Coff wasn’t on a tall, he spent quite a bit of time on Rankine.

That made **** all sense to me.

I guess the MC was banking on our midfield doing just that and ensuring we had territory dominance. It just shows we have an over-reliance on clearance/stoppage as a score source, and when the oppositon brings the heat in midfield we cannot find easier avenues to score from turnover, and we are exposed down back.

Smacks as arrogance. Crows are no mugs, to think we would dominate them in the middle of the ground was ambitious and proved so.

I'd rather lose by implementing a structure that gives us a chance to compete, but what we put out today was predictable in result and I can't accept Bevos reasoning otherwise. Unrealistic to expect such midfield dominance against other good sides, or that mistakes won't be made, or that they won't have periods of momentum - we've gotta have some level of resistance and we had zero.

I'm also lining up our list management because we simply haven't planned well enough for life after Keath, Jones, Duryea and JJ.

I think where I saw the difference today being there was their effort to spread. All players, all the time, running hard...

Guys like Soligo, Laird, Berry. They went hard for the entire game in all phases.

We have a great group of midfielders, not sure we have a great midfield team. We are very one paced and can't keep up with the really hard running units. Not sure much has changed in that regard since that fateful game in 2021.

I’ve been critical of our defensive/ transition running from our mid sized players and it was as bad as ever today… they just don’t work hard enough to assist our defensive unit which I’m not defending as they have their own issues, but there jobs aren’t made easier by how easy we allow good teams to move the ball.

Libba is an amazing ball winner but his defensive running is extremely poor, Bont picks and chooses when to push hard and the rest don’t cover these 2.

Lots of worrying signs from Freijah today… he was literally walking at times.

Other than that Sydney game, Freijah has looked average for awhile. No great speed, and not getting the ball. Surely there’s an injury there. Kennedy too, looked rather proppy out there today.
I will never see #16 the same!!

Adelaide ran the ball from one end to the other, but not at speed. They criss-crossed the ground and took their time before they got the ball into their forward line . Unfortunately Lobb was well beaten today and Thilthorpe out pointed him with some great marking.
