On Garcia: he started the game with great intensity but missed front 35 out on a slight angle, then missed a very gettable snap that good players nail. Kick those and his, and the team's confidence liffs.

        Home.

Frustrating game to end a frustrating season.

A few flickering embers to carry into the preseason come out of the game, to saddle up with Darcy as a great white hope but let’s be clear, today was an opportunity to play finals, in front of a large crowd at a home game and we absolutely stuffed it. Wins like the one there for grabs today help push the club forward.

I think we’ve underachieved, even allowing for last year’s and this year’s framing as a refresh.

I’m not sure a few flickering embers of hope are enough to sustain my belief that we’ll be any stronger, or close the 22 point between us and the top teams.

          Well done Arty.

If by some freakish fluke Essendon beat Gold Coast on Wednesday and we luck in to 8th spot I will be in uncomfortable knots.

Bitterly disappointing end to our season. Feels like we commit the cardinal sin of getting beaten by what we know over and over again, and that's on Bevo and the coaching staff. For every year like this that feels wasted, a little part of me dies knowing we're wasting our greatest ever players' chance at a second flag. What a frustrating, roller coaster of a year

Do the players who have been through the same shit over and over again take any responsibility?
              TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Have to agree with you re Bont. He absolutely gives his all and it would be so fitting to see him become a Premiership captain.

I wonder if we will review the tape of the game thoroughly, or if we don't bother because it's the end of the season and just throw it the bin again

Nah what could we possibly learn from reviewing a game? Just one of those days.

Went to the game today at Marvel.

First I’ll say that was a great crowd today. Our members and fans certainly turned out.

                      Onto the match:

We started very well and our pressure was really good. Our conversion in front of goal let us down and we easily could have led by more at quarter time.

After quarter time they took control of the game Freo and that was that.

The 2nd quarter was the difference. 7 goals to 0 goals and we could not stop their transition and they were doing as they please. We have had these quarters a bit all too often in recent times and it has cost us.

We fought it out at the end but too no avail and we lose the game and end our season unless a miracle happens on Wednesday night from Essendon.

A let down for the last home game of the season.

We need to seriously fix our defensive structure across the ground against the better teams.

It is all well and good to win against the poorer teams where you can get away with certain things but it gets found out against the better teams.

Our marking as well was very poor today. It felt like we dropped a lot.

                      Very frustrating.

This club has just numbed me to this type of performance.

You try and trick yourself into thinking it will be different, but it rarely is.

Lucky we’ve got 2 more years of this regime to look forward to.

I'm not that big on it because we already know what went wrong and how it went wrong. Sure, reinforce how the key breakdowns occurred with a bit of tape, but spend more time training on how to be better.

Also I'm a bit old school, so maybe a spray or two when people don't train to instruction properly. Home truths about consequences of not training to instruction properly. You know, the ones we faced today in the second.

Our relationship with this club is like having a relationship with J-Lo. Absolutely beautiful to look at but a total head case that adds stress and drama to our lives. And yet we can't help but come back for more.

No wonder Ben Affleck was sucking on that dart like it was his last breath.

Said the same thing to my family. He is not the main man. He was awesome with the experienced and physical Jones by his side. But with Jones gone he struggled.

Jones, Bont and Treloar all doing bad soft injuries just prior to the season was costly.
