Bankers And Anchors - Round 14, 2018 vs North Melbourne

This is the round 14, 2018 edition of the Weekly Bankers and Anchors Thread. Once the game against North Melbourne is concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual players.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

        B

Naughton. What a beautiful kick at goal.
Schache. Did a lot of gut running and provided a target.
Crozier. A great all round game.
        Gowers. Ditto.

        A

        Mitch Wallis...
Smith & Honeychurch. Almost like going in with 20 players.
Hunter's continued lazy kicking and poor decision making.

          Bankers
Adams & Moz in the backline.
The continued improvement of Schache, Naughton and Richards.
Cordy's aggression in the forward line.

          Anchors
Anyone who thinks one play alone lost us the game.
Honeychurch, how many chances does one get ?
Hunter, what is he trying to prove marking Ben Brown ?

Not all plays are equal. When the game is on the line, the plays matter more. Good players know this. Others kick it on the full.

              Bankers:
              1. 3 good games in a row by Crozier, all better than the last
              2. Well done Caleb Daniel to bounce back after a terrible game last week
              3. Gowers is fast becoming the best rookie pick up since 2012

              Anchors:
              1. Wallis & Hunter as senior players getting no penetration on their kicks. Add Dahl and I'm not sure we can carry three senior guys who can't kick more than 40m if we want to challenge again.
              2. Roarke is a good story but for balance he has to go out and let another of our natural rebounders take a position in the back 6.
              3. 46 seconds to go and an inside 50 entry begging, literally anything would have been better than an OOB on the full giving North possession and a transition play. Wallis should be embarrassed.

re : Not all plays are equal. When the game is on the line, the plays matter more. Good players know this. Others kick it on the full. Well you would presumably drop Lipinski and Schache for easy misses and Dunkley for his clunker out of the backline and countless others for turnovers.

Nope. That lest Wallis off the hook. The game was not on the line then. It was when Wallis did what he did. No excuses.

Put all that aside though, it felt like things were happening when he got the ball out there.

He's still a work in progress, but he's really giving us something.

                            Bankers
                            1. Crozier - that was hopefully the making of him as a Dog's player. I've been very hard on him..but credit where credit is due, he played out of his skin tonight
                            2. Gowers - breakout game.
                            3. My 5 year old son Joshua. Has had a huge day and whilst his batteries were drained, he kept rising to the challenge and cheered his heart out and waved his cheersquad flag all night. Gutted we couldn't get over the line, but an unforgettable first game experience all the same.

                            Anchors
                            1. Hunter just cruelled us most of the night with his shoddy disposal
2.Honeychurch and Roarke are Smith just don't look up to the level.
                            3. Our goalkicking yet again was costly.

I don't think I could have said it better. These were the exact players I had in mind when I opened the thread.

I feel for Mitch as he'd had a decent night, but FMD that was awful.
