Top 3 things to happen this season.

Well, things haven't ended as we wanted, but i thought id try spin a positive and get us talking about positives that have happened this year.

    Here's a starter.

    1. Rhylee West. He really has gone up a level this year and i love the way he goes about it, he has found his position and has made himself one of the first picked each week. i feel like he is Turning into a mini Liam Picken.

    2. The recruitment of Matt Kennedy. Whilst he has dropped off a bit the last few weeks he has had an incredible year, and has given our mids a different edge, also a great goal kicker. a very astute selection.

    3. Astronaught. Not having a pre season and life was tough without Darcy, but boy what a second half of the year, players like him are near on impossible to find, and im glad we have him locked away for a long time.

    Bonus:

    4. Beating Essendon twice by 90+ points. Lolz bombers.

Great to have a positive thread Reload. Adding to the above.

    1. Freijah starting to emerge as a future mid with some brilliant work and great skills and great to see Cleary at last showing he can play after prior inconsistencies. We all thought he should have been delisted.

    2. Dolan and Hynes debuted and showed they could be AFL players. Love the speed of Dolan and the hardness of Hynes - I think they will make it.

    3. The continued growth of the club through membership that has also translated into record home attendance.

      I'll give this a crack.

      1. Rise of Sam Darcy. There will be so much said in the offseason and in the years to come about this breakout season, and what a season it was. We all knew he would be good but just to witness it first hand is unbelievable. We now have the best two headed monster in the comp and when Cody is back from injury next season we will have another crafty small. Darcy has made a strong forward line that much stronger.

      2. Like OP I think Matt Kennedy has been an invaluable pick up. Albeit Carlton didn't have a place for him and we didn't attract him with greener grass, his recruitment has been so impactful this season and is just a footballer that will never give up, no matter the circumstances. We just need our recruiting department to get someone of equal calibre that's a key defender or could play as one (looking at Silvagni).

      3. Resilience. All in all this season we haven't been smashed, haven't given up and put in the hard yards all season long. Even in games where we deserved to be demolished (Brisbane at the Gabba, Freo on Sunday) we still showed up and gave a respectable margin. The biggest loss all year was 22 points, not a lot in the grand scheme of things. So to ensure we fight out games and have a respectable finish all year long has been an amazing effort.

        1. The late charge of Jordan Croft. Very promising.

        2. Our percentage was almost worth an extra win unfortunately we couldnt jag enough points to maximise it.

        3. Players from our bottom 6 stepping up. Baker and Bramble closed the year out very strongly which made us better.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

1/ It felt like we re-freshed.. lots of new players given exposure, and quite a few of them will become important players for us over the coming years. Still some sorting out to do settle on what our best 25 looks like, but there was solid improvement made.

2/ Offensive process - understand we beat up on lots of poor teams, which is still a skill, but if you had told me pre-season, we would be the no. 1 attacking team with Marra and Cody missing for the entire season I wouldn't have believed you. Darcy & West had excellent seasons and Naughton after a challenging start to the year was back to his best.

3/ It sucked losing lots of games to the teams who finished above us on the ladder, but we were competitive throughout the season which is a far cry from seasons past when we would throw in a few stinkers. There were still a few games in which we probably never looked like we would win, but we never once turned up our toes which I am proud of.

            1. West, Kennedy, Bramble, Baker, Davidson, Freijah, Darcy, Naughton. Cleary - all had very good years.

            2. We were competitive in every game.

            3. Jordan Croft - enormous upside.
