Who was the head coach when you started supporting the dogs?

I moved to Melbourne from Qld in 2017 so it always been Bevo for me...

    Mick Malthouse - mid 1980’s.

Love him still to this day.

When I first started as a kid in 1967 it was Charlie Sutton but I was just following the team and didn't take much notice of the coaching side of things.

Royce Hart was the first coach I really remember. I wish I didn't.

I was 10 when Bluey Hampshire took over. I don't really remember any coach before that.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Twodogs enters the chat and tells the story about how he took a screamer in kick to kick after training, and Royce Hart told him it's the best mark he's ever seen!

I remember my nanna telling me about Micky Malthouse around 1984-1985, when I was five or six. Also remember going to a couple of finals that year, but unfortunately didn't get out to the Western Oval much at all as we were eastern suburbs kids living a ten minute walk away from VFL Park.

We did get to a game at Victoria Park that I don't really remember. It might have something to do with me walking dead straight into a pole forehead first on Victoria Street after the game. For years later my dad used to point out that very pole if ever we drove past it!

What was the club like in the sixties? I note the changes back and forth in leadership, how destabilising and political was all of that? Was this the decade that put us into shitsville until 1985?

I should premise this by stating the only thing that mattered at the Dogs for me between the ages of 5-10 (78-82) was KT.

My Mum thought Geoff Jennings was cute though.

Yes it was a crap decade. After the 1961 grandfinal, we didn't play finals till 1974, then 1976 and then 1985.
I can't remember much of the 60s as I was very young - I do remember in the late 60s some of the players.
