Three things I've learned, edition XI 2018 v Melbourne

    Just three. That's all.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

We have no respect for the opposition accumulator. Brayshaw ripped us a new one and not a single one of our blokes got near him all day.

Easton Wood isn’t a leader, watched him carefully today. In our most experienced line on the ground, he was directionless. Trengove and Morris far more vocal with coaching and direction.

Williams in the midfield could happened. Looked lost a times today but you could tel he is comfortable in the role.

Seriously!Seriously!Seriously! What more could our appointed captain have done (not his choice). Risked life and limb on several occasions and played his best game for the year amongst a youngish and put together backline !!! Bonty tired and hurt tried his guts out!! WE are inexperienced and skinny and will need two more pre seasons before we become a dynasty. Supporters support. Followers follow. We have the most followers in the comp. 2020 we will have the best ruckman and best onballers in the system. We desperately need a Mcdonald type and should give up whatever it takes to get one. Someone who will reward the rest of the team for getting the ball up there!!

We had a forward leading and moving around and providing a target most of the day. Schasche would lead and the ball carrier would ignore him. What would be different if it was another forward?

            1. With Dickson down, we have no other forwards to hold the ball in the F50. Melbourne ran the ball as did Collingwood, far too easily from one end to the other.

            2. Turnovers cost us dearly. We undid all our good work by giving the ball back to them

            3. It's not fun losing like we did.

A lot of words there. I thought my statement answered your question, but to write it again he needs to direct and be vocal around the group, our defensive 6 was our most experienced line on the field. There is such thing as risk:reward in footy. Wood flying on multiple occasions cost us goals today, as we out numbered at the contest but didn’t kill it and Melbourne took the ground ball. I expect a lot from Wood because he is the captain and is capable of much better than he is showing.

Naughton and Adams would be very handy.
Ed Richards continues to show he will be a classy footballer.
Campbell and Wallis should come in at this stage.
