Impressive Bont got so close given how much footy he missed. Likewise Naughton after a slow start and Joel getting a top 10 finish

Yeah huge effort from Bont. Did not miss a beat when he came back from that injury.

Not a great endorsement for Sanders when he played 20 odd games.

On the other hand, Kennedy franked his recruitment.

Still only a 2nd year player, I think people are a bit too quick to judge kids coming straight into the AFL system. The Sheezel/Daicos types are a rare breed and we have our own in Freijah.

if Hynes next season, had half as successful a year as Sanders did this year, I feel like we’d all be glowing about him

Did a little exercise to re-rank the leaderboard by votes per game. No surprise with Bont. Darcy & Croft the other big winners. Croft obviously from a very small sample size but the coaches were clearly very impressed by his 2 games. Doesn't take into account sub affected games that will clearly hurt some players more than others in the bottom half particularly. Cleary and Harmes also rated highly.

The one that really stands out for me is O'Donnell. He clearly gets a lot of love from the coaches.

For some reason English the opposite. I was really surprised with his ranking. I thought it was one of his better years.

English never seems to attract big votes from the coaches - this year is almost identical in terms of votes to his All Australian year - 160 votes (7th) in 2023 v 155 votes (11th) in 2025.

It was an interesting tidbit that in all the years of Pannam's and Richards' playing VFL/AFL, Ed is only the second to win a best and fairest.

Great winner - what a season he had and seems like such a ripping bloke too. Refreshing given the headlines that a small few often create!

So did anyone attend and glean any inside info on player ins and outs?
