    Jason Johannisen - Tribute

Club release re: JJ delisting here: https://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/n...omes-to-an-end

Did a quick search and didn't notice a thread for JJ so thought this could be a place to share your memories and well wishes around our Norm Smith Medalist and terrific servant of the Club.

He's absolutely showered himself in glory from the Rookie draft in 2010 to a Bullgod.

Loved the way he really was able to turn on the afterburners and get through the lines. He'll have a ripper of a highlight reel. Big finish v Swans up there. Hanger in the losing GF. Balls of steel in the 2016 prelim.

I will always be annoyed at that patch where after Melbourne were dickheads, the league really went after him off the ball and no-one every really stood up for him in the way I'd have liked. That and injuries took some momentum away, but JJ managed fight through it all and continued to contribute well.

He absolutely flushed a set shot from outside 50 right on the final siren to get us a win over Sydney at the SCG in a crucial H&A match in 2016. It was a vastly underrated shot for goal - Dunstall was commentating at the time and was very impressed, which is high praise indeed.

Club legend off the rookie list. He's a great story.

His run and carry off hb with his pace was absolutely crucial to our success as foot speed was always something we lacked.

I'll never forget his drive off hb against the giants in the 2016 prelim that set-up Bonts memorable goal.

I went to a function a few years back and talked to Simon Dalrymple. I asked him out of all he selections he had made who was he the most proud of
The easy answer might have been Bont, Macrae or Stringer etc. His was response was JJ and went through the reasons for that.

Thankyou JJ, for those exciting dashes and long range goals that raised the roof & the sacrifices your hamstrings made. Our smiling norm smith Bullgod. Will miss your cutting edge hairdos. Loads of charisma & funky fashion sense without being a show off. His leadership down back will also be missed.
          Josie :)

          Our day will come
          And we'll have everything.
          We'll share the joy
          Just like '54 again.

Forever part of our club history JJ winning the Norm Smith Medal and a premiership player.

Thank you for your service to our club. One of the great half back players who gave us that famous run and carry. Kicked some great goals.

Good luck with your future endeavors JJ.

Loved watching him in full flight. Has left us with some great memories and as mentioned about that dash in the Prelim v GWS to get the ball to Bont was so exciting and the roar of the crowd was like 100,000 people.

My favourite memory of JJ ... The hardball get and kick to put the ball in front of Bont in the 2016 Prelim against GWS.

Thank you JJ; one of my very favourite players to pull on the tri-colours.

Let's not forget the shot he flushed in the GF that the goal umpire erroneously called touched. I'm sure we were all having 97 flashbacks in that moment. That would have put the game almost to bed.

My favourite memory is his little juke and go-ahead kick to Bont in the prelim - just elite.

                        BullGod forever.

That was brilliant. My fave moment of JJ as well.

Jordan Roughead took a beautiful contested mark from the resultant kick-in - those flashback nerves immediately dissipated.

We were just built different in 2016 - nothing phased us.

                              Legend.

At his best he was game changing. It was fun to watch and he was always such a likeable guy.

Understated how good he was with the fans, including the young ones. He was great with my 5 year old as recent as the VFL Grand Final.

Gonna miss him. All the best J.
