I agree that as a forward he had done quite well.
Agree when ball hits ground he is very unreliable. His decision making can be suspect too. Cannot remember game that I think was this year or possibly last where it was dying moments in a tight match and instead of holding ball as long as possible, after taking a mark, he tried a crazy short pass or hand pass. I think we still won game but it was heart in mouth stuff. Popular player with team and supporters, me included. Hope he is able to play AFL beyond this year, with his or elsewhere.

Getting dropped for a perceived weakness instead of playing him delivering on his strengths is frustrating.

I remember Jackson Trengove’s 1v1 stats were elite, yet he was dropped and delisted (IIRC) for lack of speed.

Really would prefer Bevo not be like that

That all makes sense but the developments coaches specifically do some drills with Khamis on his ability to be competitive when the ball is on the ground.
It does appear to be a genuine concern for the coaches.

To back this up I watch a lot of the vfl matches, often WO ones live. Ground level ability and IMO his lack of good defence when he doesn’t have ball is obvious even at vfl level. I’m sure he and coaches would be leaving no stone unturned to address these shortfalls, even moreso as he is with us for another year in a make or break season. Go Buku!!

I agree he struggles a bit when he dosn't take that mark and the ball hits the ground in the back line , it will quickly become evident to oppostion coaches that he can be exploited .
Hench i would play him forward , same thing obviously happens when the ball hits the ground forward, but in the forward line the next kick is not an oppostion goal .
He could be played as a marking target close to goal , because his kicking for goal is quite good , but whatever they decide to do with Buku he has to improve his tank , that way he maybe able to be that loose forward that runs to make postion for himself , of course the proviso here is that his tank gets better way better then it is at present .
I'm actually glad he didn't get his move to Carlton , because i think he can become a really important player for us next year coming off that interchange bench.

Hindsight and all that, but given Buku stays on the list, I’d would have rathered he play instead of Poulter in that bank of games before he eventually made way for Croft.

i would play him, but I can’t see it happening

He's a legit chance to play, we didn't shop him around but Carlton had other priorities and didn't come up with a decent offer.
I agree we should have never dropped him for Poulter when we did.

If Croft is tried as a defender then Khamis could be a regular player up forward.
I don't think Croft is ready yet for a defenders role and he looks more exciting and more likely to make an impact up forward.
