The problem with Garcia is that he's very good depth, but he'd want to be a starting 22 player yet his overall game isn't demanding that starting position, i really like him am a big fan but like others have mentioned, his downfalls can hurt even though his attack in the contest is right up there, you want every player on the list to show as much fight as what he does.

I really want to like Riley. He’s desperate and hard. But the quality of disposal is poor and hasn’t really improved. He’s not good enough to be part of the midfield rotations consistently and not really a small forward. Could be a defensive stopper perhaps if we believed in such things.

I don't like players who run around in circles with the football and then boot mongrels into the air. He does this too much for me, or at least I think he does because that's now all I see when he gets the football and it makes me yell a lot to the point that I might not even know if it's still happening.

So on the proviso we land Butters I feel his career is best served elsewhere. Trade as soon as we can.

I love Garcia. For me he is like a Poor Man's Butters.

His best bet is as a lockdown/defensive mid or HF. His form reads a bit like Rhylee West's early career - almost wants it too mnuch and as a consequence does too much.
If he can simplify his game he'll be a lot better.

For me, the above in bold is the best description of Riley at present ie West's 2022 VFL form. Both can/could dominate the VFL playing midfield with the sheer volume of their disposals/hard nosed approach 'papering over' the cracks in their respective games that were exposed at AFL level. I'm hoping that whomever was able to 'settle' West into the player he is today, can successfully transition Riley's game.

Yeah i get what you mean , personally i think it's over zealousness , he tries to hard to do the outstanding things instead of doing the basic things 1st , maybe if he truely nails down the basics , he then can spear his wings a bit and try other things .
If he gets the basics right his game could and should evolve , because i donthtink there is any doubt that he has the talent to be a very good player for us , he just has to keep his head in situations where he tends to try and beat the field .
