Funny I'm shocked by the lack of votes he's received, he played a good game. I think sometimes people write a players entire game off for a couple of mistakes. 32 disposals (23 kicks), at 75%, 8 marks and a goal. By no means a perfect game but ran hard both ways as always and had plenty of positive contributions. Our best mid on the night in my book.

Hunter surprisingly BOG according to both Bevo and Lyon:

            10 Lachie Hunter (WB)
            8 David Mundy (FRE)
            3 Caleb Daniel (WB)
            3 Bradley Hill (FRE)
            2 Joel Hamling (FRE)
            2 Nathan Wilson (FRE)
            1 Tim English (WB)
            1 Nat Fyfe (FRE)

Not that surprisingly in terms of him playing an excellent game. Maybe a surprise that a Freo player wasn't seen as best on.

I think plenty of Bulldogs supporters (particularly those that sit around me) have a set against Hunter and don't appreciate his two-way game.

Hunter had an excellent game and should get credit for it.

But that doesn’t change the fact that in many of his recent games he has had a lot of disposals that have done little for the team result. An easy possession on the half back flank, followed by a look backwards and then a long wait allowing the opposition to get ahead of him. Then either a hand pass putting a teammate under pressure or a kick to a contest allowing the ball to come back over his head.

I like the more decisive Hunter, and look forward to seeing him again.

At times, you are only as good as the options in front of you to kick to.
Like JJ for instance - who admittedly had 2 horror moments on the weekend - but those aside, I've seen comments about him not using his run and carry - but if he takes off and goes long, who did he have to kick to? Freo are the no.1 intercept team in the comp...run and carry and kicking long would not have been the game plan - and we saw what happened when we did go long.
