Bankers and Anchors - Rnd 21, 2019 vs Essendon

This is the round 20, 2019 edition of the weekly Bankers and Anchors thread. Once the game against Essendon is concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual players.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

      B

Biggest win over Essendon ever. As in 94 years.
Naughton/Schache. Getting the 4+ goal between them and bringing others in (see Schache smoother on the line)
Dunkley. 11 contested possessions in the first 10 minutes.
Hayes. Slow first quarter. Very solid last three.

      A

A few easy misses, but that's being greedy.
Stringer. A shadow of the player you could've been.

        1. Our whole backline (save 4th Qtr junktime) was fantastic and just downright mean.
        2. Our forward entry movement was a feature i want to see more of. So many options and we usually made the right call.
        3. Tim English is another step closer in his development to becoming the player we can only dream of.

          1. Me - I got to the game late and missed the part where Essendon kicked that goal and were generally competitive, but just in time to see 21 consecutive goals. You're all welcome.

          2. Dunkley - maybe his best game ever.

          3. The forward line - the most effective it's looked in years. All 6 guys at a given time looked incredibly dangerous and it resulted in a breathtaking performance.

          Anchors

          1. Essendon's backmen - pro tip my guys; when you've conceded 15 straight goals its probably not the time to start a fight. Expected nothing less though.

Mild-mannered Jack Macrae is the actually hardest midfielder going around.
The backline, I have been a harsh critic of Trengove and Cordy but today they played well.
Bailey Smith. In 1937, secretary Sam Ramsay instigated a new club motto: Cede Nullis, it suits Bailey Smith.

The persistent calls on here of "he won't make it" , Hayes did tonight.
Their junk time goals, they didn't deserve any.
EJ wasn't at the ground to see this stunning display.

I am not a religious person, but I'd like to think that somewhere out in the ether EJ did see tonight and smiled.

Or just ****ing laughed his head off like the rest of us..

                1. Dunkley's first quarter to set up the win

                  1. Being 20 goals up! And 20 goals up against Essendon.

                  2. Bailey Smith getting into Stingers face after he chased him down. He basically said to Stringer that he is history and I'm the future.

                  3. Winning without relying on the brilliance of Bontempelli. Such a good team performance tonight.

                  Anchors

                  1. Not being able to attend again.

                  2. Conceding the last 3 goals. It would of been nice to keep them to just the one goal.
