Just having a look at the trade/draft period in 2014 when we took Bailey Dale. Gee we did well. We didn't have a pick until #26 (we gave up our #6 as part of the Tom Boyd trade) but we still drafted 3 players who won premiership medals in 2016, Toby MacLean at 26, Caleb Daniel at 46 and Zaine Cordy at 62. We also drafted Bailey Dale at 45. The other draftees in 2014 were Lukas Webb at 27 and Declan Hamilton at 39.
We traded in Tom Boyd for Ryan Griffin and #6 (Caleb Marchbank) and Shane Biggs and #39 for #37 (which we got for Adam Cooney and which Sydney drafted James Rose with.) We also took Joel Hamling as a delisted free agent (basically for free). That's 6 of the 2016 premiership team we added to the list in one draft/trade period
Given the 2014 post season begun with Ryan Griffin who was captain at the time dropping the "I wanna be traded and by the way there is only one club that I wanna go to so good luck with the negotiations" bombshell I reckon we did alright.
