The most bat shit shit crazy Bevo thing to do at this point, is to subvert expectations and tone stuff down, go in more traditional, more conservative.

Crozier to the midfield - quick, long kick, defensively minded
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

        Not a bad suggestion.

I don't like the idea of anyone going into the midfield who isn't an elite decision maker with sure hands who can stand up in a tackle. Crozier in there would definitely be bat shit crazy.

I wouldn't mind trialling Crozier forward in the mid sized defensive role JJ played at times.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

His got enough training as a FWD in the Freo days. Good idea , he would have a lot of knowledge with that.

What about the wing ? He has a long kick ( maybe not accurate) but not sure on his speed, if you compare him against a Ed.Langdon type.

Ideally I'd like a gut running smart player (Hunter) on one wing and a player who can run and carry on the other. I'd be concerned about Crozier's speed as well.

Crozier's one-wood is judging the ball in flight.
Put him in the middle and you take most of that away. I can't see our potential A graders getting enough midfield time (Dunks, Treloar and Baz) let alone shoe-horning Crozier in there.

Bailey Williams taking the occasional wing rotation, maybe. I still think he's predominantly a backman and battled well most games when he was asked to play tall as the 3rd.

Re: Put your crazy Bevo hat on

What I think we need to do is leverage our midfield depth. I want us to end each game with a dozen players each having spent 5 centre bounces in the square - let’s give oppositions different looks every time and use our depth as a real advantage. Let’s see some random combinations and different players in different roles in that centre bounce - and let’s improve our ability to react in the moment.

We can start with Bont, Treloar, Dunkley, then throw Libba, Daniel, Richards, then go with Macrae, Smith, Williams. Maybe get Roarke, Hunter, Dale, Weightman, VDM, McNeil, heck Naughton even, in there. Just make it unpredictable.

If we don’t land a ruck, then let’s play either Young or Sweet (if we keep them) as the main ruck. Some different looks / capabilities to mix it up with big Chilli. Melbourne got a big advantage there - a lot of more non traditional style bigs who can mark the ball, hunt it at ground level are having an impact. We need to develop that.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Only around the edges would you train Bedendo in the backline this Preseason? Its hard to see him playing forward with the long-term talent we have down there.

More likely Bevo gets a marking coach to work with Naughton rather than getting Twodogs to work with him on his set shot kicking

If we ever work out the kinks with his goal kicking we will get full reward for some of those brilliant marks.

Given we expect Jamarra and Darcy (who can play either end and in the middle) to develop well over the next couple of seasons, I would expect Naughton and Schache to play some games down back, depending on the match-ups.
