The Moment: Rnd 1, 2022 vs Melbourne Demons

The moment, the best, most courageous moment that caught your eye in tonight's round 1 match against Melbourne. Was it the moment that told you 'we've got this' or 'we lost this one right here'? Or was it the moment that you went 'wow....that is crazy courage.

Schache's handball in the F50 tied with his missed mark in defence.
It deflated us, killed his confidence and handed the momentum back to the demons

The Schache dropped mark that gifted Fritsch an easy goal. Collective head dropper.

Game in the balance, well two goals in it, we switch play with two loose men on the wings. Ball goes to Williams, who should have continued down the outer wing, but he decides to kick the ball towards the centre into a nest of Melbourne players, and they run in and kick a goal. Snuffed out any chance.

That was so deflating. Not sure at all what he was thinking, unless he genuinely didn’t see the guy (? Not sure who it was?) who was well in the clear on the 50m line.

Sadly, my boy Schache has the toss of the coin with two moments.

The fluffed handball to really frank the big swing in momentum our way. Reduced the scoreboard impact significantly I think.
The dropped mark to allow Frisch to get his tail up.

There was probably a 10minute patch early to mid final quarter where we didn't show enough bravado going forward. Needed to go longer, and more prepared to hit the scoreboard in any capacity rather than finesse it. Instead we turned it over in dangerous areas and blew the last crack at it. Was about 4 entries in a row.

The Schache *!*!*!*! up inside 50 was obviously bad but it didn’t hurt our momentum at all. Hannan kicked one soon after to make it 8 in a row.

The dropped mark that led to the Demons goal was a real killer. He wasn’t on his own at dropping marks under pressure though, we did it all night.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Naughton supplied th good moments along with a couple from Crozier and Bailey Dale. Plenty of forgettable moments that players, and supporters, would rather forget. Let's not do those again boys.

When T-Mac went to defence the game changed... Melb needed to stop us scoring and adding an extra tall in defence allowed this to happen.

May also got much more body contact (sometimes illegally) onto Naughton which meant he was less of a threat in the air and given he was our only dangerous forward when he wasn't marking it, we weren't.

The first 1/4 when Langdon was again off the chain (who was on him, why wasn't her checked ?) and they were 4 goals up. Reminded me of the last quarter and a half of the GF.

The dropped mark Fritsch goal. Melbourne are a good side, they will eat you alive if you give them a chance
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

was death by a thousand cuts - so many spoilt kicks into 5, so many kicks straight to demon defenders. half way through last quarter they'd kicked 8 goals from turnovers to our 4.

if i had to pick a moment it would be the dropped mark and Fritsch goal. mostly because Fritsch is an annoying little sh**.
