We can’t just blame Macrae when no one else stepped up either.
A lot of Macrae's centre bounces came once Libba was off, as well (6 out of 11 in the last quarter).

I agree he didn't play his usual game, but the days of expecting Macrae to get 35 each week are gone.

Bont attended 13 out of 22 centre bounces, so we can't really blame it on him not being there.

Macrae seems to have dropped off quite significantly in the last year, is it our change of game plan, speed and he can’t get to positions quick enough ?

Unfortunately I have been otherwise occupied this weekend so I've only seen highlights of the game. I have some questions.

How did Tim English's job interview go?

Can we really take anything out of that game?

I have read that the Eagles beat us at clearances and/or centre bounces. What went wrong there?

Richards and maybe Harmes will return for next weekend. Who deserves to get dropped for them?
The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.

If English's profile was anything and trade requests were afoot (in terms of media knowledge) then his efforts on the weekend would have made at least one or two of Monday night's footy shows.
          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Did you walk there? We left 10 minutes into the last and made it in time.

First time Vanders has had votes?

How great some depth players getting votes.

                  Vanders, Bramble and English.

I know English is probably a joke but it does at least clarify one or both coaches considered him in the best 5 players on the ground. Contrasts with the sentiment here not quite being so positive from some.

Williams with votes from 2 coaches, Bramble considered 3rd best on by one, Vanders either 4th best by 1 or 5th best by 2 and Naughton considered the 2nd best player by 1 coach despite only kicking 1 goal.

All of these points are absolutely positives. I know they're not great but we lost to this team last year. That our lesser lights could lead us to a win rather than relying on the same old (with Treloar the exception) or through different kinds of roles/performances (Naughton) is a good sign and hopefully points to good things against the better teams where we will rely on the same old players a bit more but they might have more support.

I'm going to say that Bevo's votes were:
                      5 Treloar
                      4 Naughton
                      3 Williams
                      2 English
                      1 VDM

Pretty reflective of how I saw the match as well.

                        I'll give this a go:

How did Tim English's job interview go? Tim was excellent around the ground and in periods up forward. In the ruck contests only fair

Can we really take anything out of that game? I think we got another opportunity to develop cohesion in a group with quite a few new faces. We nursed Bont through a bit - with him having more time than usual up forward and potentially having a slight foot issue from the previous week. We also got to put Libba on the shelf for a lot of the second half. Gave Sanders a big crack at the middle, saw a bit more of Darcy. I think we utilised the easier match well.

I have read that the Eagles beat us at clearances and/or centre bounces. What went wrong there? Eagles with Kelly and Yeo in there did do quite well - both quality mids. Libba and Bont not in there quite as much - but the Eagles did well early when both were out there. Wasn't disasterous - they weren't out the front type clearances.

Richards and maybe Harmes will return for next weekend. Who deserves to get dropped for them? Nobody particularly 'deserves' to get dropped. Some commentary on Dale and others is a bit much. Likely will be fringe players like Poulter and Baker most likely, potentially Duryea for balance but Doc was really good

I don’t think anyone thought he had a bad game. Very worthy of coaches votes. These votes more justify that he wasn’t BOG as some here suggested

People were saying he was smashed in the ruck. I suppose that can happen while also having a very good game but to me that doesn't imply best 5 on the ground.
