To tag or not to tag, that is the question

Some random observations from recent games.

Harley Reid is tagged in the last game he played, and he's not effective. Bont gets tagged on Friday night, output well done. Ditto Daicos today. And the Hawks have a guy whose name escapes me who is very good at this.

Other teams employ this tactic successfully, but we don't. Neale ran around on Friday night and did what he pleased.

Why don't the Bulldogs tag? Is it a lack of an appropriate player or something else?

And how do you break a good tag and/or support or block for the player tagged?
The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.

We do tag. Gags went to Daicos at the opening bounce against Collingwood. Libba after halftime often goes to the opposition playmaker. We don't win 2016 without Libba's job on Kennedy.

Whether we have a good tagger is a question. But the myth that we never tag is an odd one.

Interesting - Freo / Bont tag article (it's actually a freo piece just read the bit ive pasted)

      https://www.afl.com.au/news/1149340/fremantle-dockers-midfielder-caleb-serong-ponders-marcus-bontempelli-tag-as-they-prepare-to-double-down

On the Bulldogs this week, Serong his side would have plans in place to counter superstar midfielder Marcus Bontempelli, regardless of whether they choose to follow a recent trend to bring back a tagger.
"He's a star and he's in my opinion the best player in the comp with what he's able to do both offensively and defensively, and as a team player and a leader," Serong said.
"So he's someone I look up to as a player and he's going have impact either way, but it's how we as a group and whoever gets the role manages that and maintains it.
"But as a group we've got plans that we put in place as we do every week."

We also brought in Scott against Sydney specifically to tag Gulden and he got knocked out three minutes into the game.

Plus Sanders followed around Neil in the first half, but just couldn't keep up

We basically lost a player doing that. What were they thinking as Sanders was never going to be able to run with him. Sanders needs to watch tapes of how Greg Williams played as he not overly quick.
