    Round 1 2009 team

Let's overlook Hill getting rubbing out and assume that West retires, Ray leaves and we get some marginal dodgy tall like Campbell, Staker or Graham and miraculously Williams isn't injured.

What would your Rd 1 team look like for next season?

    It'd be made up of 22 blokes all wearing R, W, & B.

    They're good colours.

    It'd look nice.

Could Addison be part of a potential trade for that FF? Cal Ward in for Addison

I'll throw what's maybe an unrealistic motza ball out there - Ayce Cordy on the bench, Minson No.1 ruck, Hudson to Williamstown.

Have you seen a photo of Ayce.

I only ask as he is that skinny you might have missed him in the photo.

Would be ultra interesting if he forced Hudson or even Minson out.

            You couldn't miss his nogen!

Unrealistic I'll concede, though he apparently would be considered a top 3 pick if not linked to us through FS, and the Josh Fraser's & Matthew Kreuzer's of the league generally play senior footy almost straight away.

More likely is that he's playing regular senior footy when Hudson retires, when that is may depend on Cordy's development/form

I'm waiting to see who will nominate him, forcing us to use our first rounder.

Hall would be fantastic. His presence would certainly help with the development of Grant, Bouman + Cordy in the forward line.

Chasing a lead up or a crash n bash CHF should also be a priority. Thorp could be good.

Think that we should be aiming to play Ward for at least 50% of the matches for the year, and Reid + O'Keefe at least 50% between them.

Think West also could be serviceable in a 'Harvey' style role playing 3/4 of the game. West was never quick, so his increasing age shouldnt be much of a problem. Question whether we would want West + Cross + Boyd all in the same team, given they are similar type players.

And look where its got Fraser. Burnt out by the time hes 25, and Kruzer could head down the same path. Which is why Carlton are interested in Warnock.

Id be happy if Cordy was having a decent crack in Willy reserves, and toward the latter end of the season pushing for seniors. But even that might be stretching it.

Lets not assume West retires.....I'm one that sees him well and truly in our best 22 next year if he proves his fitness. Would have been very handy in the finals this year when we couldn't get it out of the middle.

I'd much rather West have had the shots instead of Eagleton and Boyd last Friday night too.

If 100% fit, he is in the 22 next year. Decent size 'IF' though.
