Poor Little Gazza, just can't take a trick. I wonder if those Geelong supporters that felt fit to vilify Adam Cooney will do likewise to Joel Corey?

It shows that missing games makes it extremely hard to win awards where every game counts unlike awards such as the ALFPA MVP.

I must admit to enjoying hearing the news that he didn't win the B+F. He is a great player, but he knows it and has always had a touch of arrogance about him.

I don't think know how that statement could be further from the truth.

One of the the most modest players in the competition.

Not a chance, I think that Brownlow night said it all really, Ablett was upset and even appeared angry not to win it and not to get those 3 votes in round 22, whereas Cooney was genuinely surprised to win it and didn't rate himself. Ablett reads into his own hype - and there's a lot of it.

Thanks TCD, no real surprises in the B+Fs so far.

A professional sportsman showing some disappointment when he didn't win the most prestigious individual award in the game. What a shock.

Of course he wants to win, just as he wanted to win the GF andwas upset when the team couldn't.

He gets paid to compete and be the best he can be so of course he will show some emotion when he doesn't win, I would expect the same of our player's.

He expected to win that Brownlow. That showed in his reaction.

As a proffesional sportsman, you shouldn't expect or assume anything, especially when it is the most prestigious individual award in the game, and when your chance of winning is minimal. Brownlow night showed that Ablett thought he was the best and that is a thought that I never want one of our players to adopt, even if they are the best.

                          He didn't appear angry.
He was upset like any favourite would in the same situation. It was hardly arrogant.

                            Not my interpretation.

Mattner finishing third was a bit surprising for me, but admittedly I don't watch a lot of Sydney matches. I like B&F's for this reason, it shows you who is doing the job the coach asked him to, which we are often unaware of.

I'm not sure what I think of Ablett, he obviously wanted to win a Brownlow, but who doesn't? We don't know if he expected to win it or not, but if he did expect to win it then he would be a bit arrogant, purely because he effectively missed 5 games, which is a fair chunk of the 22 matches...the voting from those rounds can't be ignored just because a favourite missed. I'd be upset if any of our players didn't show any emotion after a Grand Final loss, at least his fans know he gave everything he had- he wanted to win, they didn't and he knows that those opportunities don't come around every day, so we can't really have a go at him for that.
