    Our ruck stocks?

    OK a few assumptions:

Street is delisted or traded and Wight a possibility to go even though he wouldn't be classed as a ruckman. We don't upgrade Shaw or Mulligan who are not ready to play in the ruck anyway.

That would leave us with Hudson, Minson and Skipper on the list as the viable ruckman. Is that cutting it too fine? Cordy won't be ready to ruck for quite a while.

I think we need to play two ruckman in every game now because with the extra boundary umpires the game will quicken up no end and additional changes on and off the benches will be required. I just get the feeling we need to find someone who could fill that role for a few weeks here and there if required.

Anyone got a few names that we might be able to acquire?

How about Mark Seaby ... that will only cost us our liver seeing how we don't have any viable draft picks WCE would be interested in

Seaby seems about the only one out there.

Perhaps Ray for Seaby. If they like that price and Ray doesn't i say do a Veale Deal, and offer a low pick for a Seaby.

      Macintosh is off the table.

      White is probably past it.

Shaun Hampson looks like he's staying at Calrton.

      Warnock isn't a reality...

I think we are far too thin in the ruck.

Even if we had a pick to offer, Seaby is not the type of player I am talking about. We need a 3rd or 4th wheel type ruckman. Someone who can do a job if Hudson is injured or needed to be rested or if Minson was having a forced holiday. Seaby wants to be the number one ruckman.

Well if Seaby's good enough, he 'could' be our number ruckman. Just a 'few' questions about whether he is up to it...

            Pattison from Richmond?

So your suggestion is to move Hudson or Minson on? Niether would go to the West.

No we need to get someone to support the rucks that we have and add some depth. Comrades idea of Pattison (if the Tiges secure Seaby) might be closer to the mark.

For a minimal contract, that's not a bad idea !!

I'm guessing he wouldn't want to be the 3rd wheel but not a bad short term solution.

Realistically, what decent third option are you going to find? Unless you have a young ruck developing on your list, it's rare you'll come across a decent third ruck.

Skipper's alright for the meantime, hence why we re-signed him. Hopefully improvement will come from Mulligan & Shaw to keep Skip honest but the reality is, as back-up to our number one & two choices, Skipper's about as good as you're going to get for the next year or so.

If we get Hansen, can he pinch hit in the ruck? He's 198 cm

As far as I can remember, he hasn't done even regular forward line ruck work at the Eagles.
I still think we need to find someone capable of doing a job like Michael Rix did for the Saints because we can't rely on Skipper being fit and in form if either of the other two are missing. Heaven help us if both of them are out.

I still remember back to when both Wight and Morgan got injured when asked to do a spell in the ruck. It's a specialised position and I don't think our current list covers it.

A few months ago it was reported that Darcy had a coffee with Mark Jamar about his future. Darcy thought he would arrange a chat as he rated him as a player. Could it be that Darcy was talking him into coming to the dogs?
He is out of favour at the Dees, would not cost much at all. At least provides another strong bodied ruckman as backup.

I am pretty sure his name has been on the trade table this week, so could be a possibility.
