    Irene Chatfield Awarded Life Membership



    At tonight's AGM President David Smorgon awarded Irene Chatfield with Life Membership of the club.

    Irene was visibly emotional as she accepted her framed certificate. She said she had always followed the club & thanked all the players who have proudly worn the red, white & blue.

    In 1989 Irene mortgaged her house to pay legal costs as she took on & with the help of the community, defeated the then VFL's plan to merge Footscray & FItzroy.

    A popular decision tinight.

      A worthy recipient of being a dogs LIfe Member Coon Dog, any other news like a sponsorship maybe?

              Surprised it's taken nearly 20 years, but an excellent decision.

              Congratulations to Irene. I think it's time her scarf was placed in the AFL Hall of Fame.

                  Yes, saw her on the EDHID DVD, congratulations to her, very deserving.
