    Aboriginal AllStars game Feb 7

The Crows play the aboriginal AllStars on Feb 7 IIRC.

Will Harbrow and Hill make the team?

Anyone want to have a crack at listing a possible AllStars team?

I haven't given this a lot of thought but with Dogs NAB game not that far away I wouldn't have thought any of our indigenous boys are likely to get a run.
Harbrow, Hill and Stack are very much in the mix for the NAB game and possibly Lynch as well.

      .
Wouldn't that apply to any player from any team though? How would they get a team together?

You are probably right, we don't play until the 13th so a couple of them might be in the mix. It will probably depend on what they want to do.

If it was up to the players, i'm sure they wouldn't even think twice, the indiginous players getting together to play a game like this means so much to them, and even though it's only a pre-season hit out, the experience would be huge for the individual.

As a Doggies supporter, i'd love to see the likes of Hill, Harbrow, maybe even a Stack or Lynch getting a game.

Some people might say, ah but they might get injured blah blah, but it's footy, they can get injured on a training track, its the game, if you can't handle that, get out!

If Franklin is injured, what will they do for KPPs and rucks?

Agreed - would be a great experience for them.

Here's a crack, based on the largely unrealistic assumption they'd all be fit & permitted to participate by their respective clubs:

Backs: Graham Johncock - Patrick Ryder - Andrew McLeod
Half backs: Sean Burgoyne - Roger Hayden - Peter Burgoyne
Centres: Josh Hill - Richard Tambling - Aaron Davey
Half forwards: Leon Davis - Mark Williams - Cyril Rioli
Forwards: Austin Wonaeamirri - Lance Franklin - Daniel Motlop
Followers: Adam Goodes - Chance Bateman - Daniel Wells
Interchange (6 man): Lindsay Thomas - Alwyn Davey - Danyle Pearce - Michael O'Loughlin - Andrew Lovett - Cameron Stokes
Emergencies: Jarrod Harbrow - David Wirrpanda - Leroy Jetta - Andrew Lovett-Murray

That's the team I go with if I'm playing to win...Good luck keeping us to less than 20 goals...then again, if you can get the ball off them you might score 20 yourself without too many problems.

Out of curiosity...Is Magic McLean handling coaching duties again?

Nice team there RS. Perhaps Michael Johnson could free up Ryder who could also do some ruckwork.

No RS, Chris Johnson will be coaching.

                    Indigenous All Stars appoint coach

Former Brisbane champion Chris Johnson has been appointed head coach of the 2009 Qantas Indigenous All Stars team to play in Darwin on 7th February.

Chris, who retired from the game in 2007, after playing over 260 games with Fitzroy and Brisbane Lions, brings a wealth of experience to the role through his current position as development coach for the Brisbane Lions.

The 32-year-old has a list of playing accolades that includes three premiership medals in 2001, 2002 and 2003, dual All-Australian selection, International Rules captain and club captaincy. Johnson was named in the back pocket of the Indigenous Team of the Century and has been an All Star representative in previous years.

“It’s a great honour to be appointed head coach”, Johnson said, “Especially following in the footsteps of ex-coach Michael McLean. I looked up to him as a young player, I still do look up to him. It is a fantastic opportunity to coach great players against a quality opposition. I’m very excited”.

Jason Mifsud, CEO AFL Foundation said, “Chris clearly demonstrated a vision and passion to ensure that the whole program best reflects the standards of an AFL club. He understands and articulated the requirements needed to produce the necessary professionalism to set a standard of the highest order. And as the only current AFL Indigenous coach he was an obvious choice".

Indeed...there's such a glut of interchangeable mobile, dangerous mids you could certainly make that argument...But then, who gets the chop?

Thanks TCD...looks like somewhat of a changing of the guard...though it's lovely to see the reverence Magic is obviously held in.

Michael Johnson is 195cm...I think he is a monty to play if he wants too. As for who to leave out, the line forms behind all of the midgets (everyone who isn't Franklin, Goodes, or Ryder). By the same logic, I expect Antoni Grover and Nathan Lovett-Murray to be selected...they will be used to fill the key roles down back (along with either Grover or Johnson), with Ryder doing 'most' of the ruckword and Goodes and Franklin both playing forwards.

And the clearance specialist who is Shaun Burgoyne cannot sit at half-back.

                          Playing to win?

Backs: Graham Johncock - Antoni Grover - Roger Hayden
Half backs: Andrew Macleod - Michael Johnson - Peter Burgoyne
Centres: Danyle Pearce - Daniel Wells - Richard Tambling
Half forwards: Leon Davis - Adam Goodes - Cyril Rioli
Forwards: Mark Williams - Lance Franklin - Daniel Motlop
Followers: Paddy Ryder - Shaun Burgoyne - Chance Bateman
                          Interchange (6 man): Lindsay Thomas - David Wirrapanda - Michael O'Loughlin - Andrew Lovett - Nathan Lovett-Murray

For me, Harbrow and Hill miss the cut.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

however, allow me some bias, our boys Hill and Harbrow are better on the wings than what you have proposed. I actually believe that!!!!

Collingwood & West Coast clash that week in the NAB Cup, so Neon Leon & Wirrpanda may not be available.
