Lets be honest, it reads like a horror story when you go back through the years & see players arrive, make a name for themselves & then for one reason or another find themselves playing for another team.
Which one really cut to the quick with you? Why? Did/would you ever forgive them?
Let's just list a few that were terrific players who went on to ply their trade elsewhere:
George Bissett, Laurie Sandilands, Bernie Quinlan, Barry Round, Gary Dempsey, Kelvin Templeton, Brad Hardie, Jim Edmond, Tony McGiunness & Nathan Brown
For me its hard to split between Gary Dempsey & Kelvin Templeton.
Gary Dempsey wanted an elusive premiership & went to North (we got Mark Williams, John Moylan & Gary Cowton in return
). In all honesty I wished with all my heart at that time that he failed.
Kelvin Templeton's 1980 seson was the best I've ever seen by a player wearing the red, white & blue. It was ironic that he went to Melbourne which was the club he played against when he did his knee. Again, I was shattered, but somewaht comforted when I saw him struggling to kick 40 metres for the Demons.
