I thought he showed signs in the last quarter that were very encouraging, he shrugged off a melbourne defender near the boundary to keep the ball alive, attacked the ball in the air when playing as a forward, kicked a nice goal and looked close to me to moving freely and understanding how we play etc

Maybe for the first three quarters, but don't think his 10 possesions in the last were those of a tired old man.

In the last quarter he won a number of contested possessions, kicked a goal from 50, set up at least one other (v nice kick to Johnson, weighted to give him an opportunity in cramped space), and showed he wasn't far off being a match-winner.

He didn't kick miracle goals on his left or right but got the ball in dangerous places and created space for shots. His use of the ball was v good earlier as well, he made a great tackle and probably should've been used more by his team-mates.

Still a question over his pace but lots of cause for optimism I reckon.

At the end of each match 3AW award the "Jason Tough Guy Award" (Jason bedding products, not Jason as in Akermanis). Anyway, they gave it to Aker on Sunday for his 4th quarter effort. I was a bit surprised.

Then again I am not a fan of Aker.

My Dad keeps telling me he will come good - just getting used to fitting into our side, our game plan etc. I am still waiting patiently (though will concede that last quarter was pretty good).

On Sunday he created a few goals as well as kicking one. He could easily have kicked at least three. He is slowly getting use to our style and I think he is going to be a big asset to the club, especially showing the young guys how hard you have to work to be a topline AFL player.

I guess a lot of supporters are starting to question Aker's worth and I'm sure I heard a few Bronx cheers in the 2nd and 3rd quarter by our own supporters when Aker got a couple of easy possessions.
I was very happy with his effort in the last quarter though and thought he really added a bit too us.

Your dad is a very wise person (and I have met him), you should listen to him more. Aker will come good, it is not in his make-up to accept mediocrity.

                    .
I didn't take them as Bronx cheers, I think they were happy to see him with the ball. Just take note, each time he gets the ball the supporters get excited.

                      Re: Akermanis

Todays game against Collingwood was by far his best for the club.

I thought the signs were very good ineed today

His hands were great below his feet, firing out handballs on the lead, he took on guys and was able to lay the ball off with handballs, and just his awareness around packs as well as his zip were exciting.

In the third quarter he ran hard after Ben Johnson and tackled Johnson just as he was kicking on goal, Acker did enough to ensure he missed.

In the second quarter he centred from a forward pocket on his left to Matt Boyd who ran in and kicked an easy goal.

As well as kicking two goals he help assist with at least another two maybe three as well as stopping Ben Johnston....................... he is coming good

There were definitely signs today that his addition is going to help take us to the next level, his speed of disposal vision and clean hands just created a lot of opportunities.

I cannot wait for him to kick a 50 metre left foot goal at Telstra - when he does we will have to merge the thread with W W Biscuits erotic dream thread!

Have always been happy with him at the club, last season he was one of the reasons we made the top four.

I feel that he will have a massive year this season, cutting back on a lot of media things & concentrating on football, should do wonders for us as a club.
