4 - Cross - superb everywhere and a surprisingly strong overhead mark.
3 - Ray - seemed to bob up every where when needed.
      2 - Harris - killed Neitz
1 - Boyd - ton of clearances and contested ball.

      James

      2 - Ray
1 - Cooney - battled hard all day.

        4. Cross - hard all day, ran harder than anyone else on the field.
        3. Harris - was again excellent
        2. Boyd - worked hard on his tackling, and did some good defensive work
        1. Ray - was key in our strong second term, his best game of the year

unlucky to Johnson, Cooney, McMahon and Higgins who all had reasonable days today, and a handful of others. Special mention to Mitch for an EXCELLENT comeback game. Did much better than I thought he would.

        2. Ray
        1, Cooney

          MARMO

4 - Cross ( another great effort this week, he is just everywhere )
3 - Johnson ( just kept going all day, kicked that winning goal )
2 - Cooney ( Starting to get his touch back )
1 - Eagleton ( You could just sense that his 200th game was very important to him, he lifted today)

          JAMES

2 - Cooney ( same assessment as above in Marmo)
1 - Ray ( Did good today, also regaining his form )

I know Harris was again very effective on the weekend but to be honest I didn't rate his performance that highly. I'm a little surprised that he has featured so strongly.

Why didn't you rate him so highly this time, GvGjr?

I found it hard to choose a 2nd best player for us. Johnson's goal was crucial but I thought he'd tried to outbody Carroll to much rather than beating him on the lead, Boyd was good but I gave the points to Johnson, Ray provided some excellent run but failed to finish a few times, as did Gia, McMahon was good but not dominant, and Gilbee did some v nice things and a couple of horrible things.

I guess I had Harris 2nd best because Neitz was such a threat, Harris got the crucial free against him, and kept his nerve to take that final mark (when others might have kept their eyes on Neitz, not on the ball), and disposed of it well. He wasn't the game-breaker of the Hawks and Weagles games, but I thought those moments raised him above the pack.

Probably that he only had 6 possessions although I do note that he did a good job against a dangerous opponent and the stats don't often tell the full story. He was very good but I thought (in no order) that Ray, Johnson, Cross, Gilbee, Eagleton and Hargrave all performed better. Harris would be just after that group.
Obviously the majority of of people here feel otherwise which probably means I have underestimated his efforts.
