Williams was both encouraging and disappointing today. The amount of times he lost his opponent was poor but some of the run he provided was good.

Hill and Stack were exciting but I really liked Wards game today.

At the moment is the key section of your reply. We have Brisbane up there, Geelong and Collingwood. We are 8% in front of Collingwood and about 130 points clear of Adelaide and Brisbane. If we get pumped between rounds 20-22 percentage may matter. Although if we get pumped between rounds 20-22 the finals won't really matter I spose. I thought today and next week was going to be a real opportunity to beef up the percentage and show our wares as a top 3 team playing a bottom 2 team. But that didn't happen.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

        Yes agree Ward was great.
With Tommy, it was more seeing that he could take contested marks, choose the right option and kick the ball well. Just your basic skills. I think todays game would have given him a lot of confidence in his ability to play at this level.

Brennan Stack showed he could be an additional goal avenue in lieu of Josh Hill who tried hard but can't seem to get clean possession at any time. Everitt should have gone to CHF before the last qtr. I thought he crashed a few opponents and added something with his size. Pity about his shot for goal. Eagleton has surely had his last chance. Skills and concentration were a disappointment. What was the plan with no one forward of centre for large periods of play. If the plan was to run the ball then they were too lazy or slow to get free. Aker showed what is needed to be a success with his chasing, tackling, smarts and disposal.

            I really enjoyed Wards game
The opposition doesn't really tend to care about him and then like today, he goes and finds plenty of space to drill a forward pass with..

This is the hard part of the season when you grind out wins and that is exactly what we did. It would have been nice to have a flashy thumping, but I didn't expect it. Again some younger players were stand outs with Ward and Stack topping that bill and Aker reminding us why we need Aker.

I watched the game with a lump in my throat both for Brad and Lindsay ...

I wonder how much emotion played a part in the game ... leading to poor skills and bad decision making

Re: Game Day - Western Bulldogs vs Fremantle

Glad to be sitting here after a win, for starters. Hard to judge our work, Freo was pretty crap! I felt our outs would impact us, and I reckon they did. We jumped out of the blocks, and never really were threatened, but there were some ordinary periods. Freo did get better over the duration of the game, but I would have liked us to kick on further than we did in the end. Against better opposition, we'll get done with those inconsistent efforts (and they've been there for a while). Anyhoo, we got the win. Plenty to work on during the week.

Good work from Stackalicious in his 2nd game, he showed some really good signs, some good grabs, and chases. Give him another game. Let's see if he can put a few together.

Tom W. played OK, made some good decisions, used his body to good effect. Everitt disappointed me, I was looking for him to really make some impact. He might get another run, but IMO he didn't earn it today. I thought Huddo's efforts around the ground were quite good. I thought Hill was much better today. Needs to put a couple of good game together.

Aker you BLOODY LITTLE RIPPER! Absolute champion... he may be getting on, in footy-years, but he knows where to be, and when. Bloody legend.

I wonder if some of those who criticised Brennan's selection for his first game some weeks ago might now feel that the coaching staff have some idea of what they are doing, even if it is not obvious to all.

Good to see Stack play well and Aker to get a few goals. Hill still not up to it for my likeing.
Ward Rising star maybe??? At least he is consistent and gets the job done.
Consistency of Griffen and Cooney concerns me.
Morris steady up back, Williams showing some ok signs. Everitt better at half forward.
                      Eagleton ....VFL

I'm very loathe to make negative comments about a player but Griff looks to have transmission problems; stuck permanently in first gear.

Can't help but agree. He should be tearing it up week in week out.
I absolutely love him but something is not quite gelling in his game.

One thing about Griffen's game is that he needs to deliver the ball with first option instead of trying to take the tacklers. This part of his game can be really good when it comes off, but when it doesnt it can go horribly wrong.

Both him and Cooney go in and out of the game too much for my liking. They really need to get that consistancy over 4 qtrs to really go to the next level.
I will never see #16 the same!!

With the Gilbee news. I am sure Griffens mind was probably else where today considering how recent his own father passed away. Has been good the last month and hopefully next week will be more switched on. Cooney is more of a worry for me. Seems to be half the player he was last year. Lacks that power off the mark. Also is not kicking many goals this year.

You do realise he's struggled with a knee injury and has had surgery during the season? Add this to the fact that he had a non-existent pre-season, and it's actually kind of amazing that he's still racking up 30 possession games.

Regarding his game today, I thought some of his zip returned and his clearance work was very good.
