All they have to do is move Roughead to the backline to replace Croad.

My Pelchan senses are tingling again...

I can't see any reason why the Hawks would want him.

Therefore, this smacks to me of behaviour to try to wrangle in on any trade/s that 'may potentially' occur with us and Sydney. If Lake puts himself on the market, Pelchan would love to put himself between us and Sydney (the front runners), and run interference on any trades of players and picks and try to exploit the deal for his desires. Pelchan's motives are never pure and I think this is a strategic move to get involved with teams which at this very early point are the most likely to trade.

If we have to pay that sort of money for 1 years service, and to give up a trade, then i don't want Barry Hall.

We would have to give a player, perhaps GOK, Brennan Stack or maybe Dylan Addison.
plus pay the guy more than we would pay Akermanis, when we can't even afford to pay Lake the right money.
                Keeping Lake is the priority.

Hopefuly Sydney will let Hall choose where he wants to go and send him there without problem(Akermanis style).

Long-term, don't be surprised to see Roughead become a key defender for the Hawks -they are banking on one of Dowler and Thorp to make it as a key forward.

There's always a lot of posturing in the lead up to trade week, and this is no exception. Sydney are well aware of Pelchan's modus operandi, having strung them along all week until 1.59pm on the Friday before finalising what was an extremely fair trade for Spida Everitt a few years ago, not to mention the hot air expelled by Pelchan last year in relation to ROK. I'm sure that, once Hall commits to playing football in 2010 and the Dogs commit to the idea of taking him, Sydney and the Dogs will negotiate something fair and reasonable early in trade week.

Just cannot see how Barry is going to get 300 large though. As posted previously keeping Brian is the priority

Back-ending Brian's contract seems the only way, especially if Aker re-signs. Hall's two year deal may be weighted towards the second year to facilitate Aker's year.

You never know, we could win the premiership and have a host of retirments - Johno, Welshy, Aker, EAgle etc. That would lighten up some salary relief - although would you still take Hall
