He stunk it up tonight. Didn't work hard enough in either direction, like the rest of his midfield mates. By contrast, Ward was fantastic tonight.

You can see why he slipped in the draft - yes, his kicking is elite (on his left side), but he doesn't get to enough contests when the intensity lifts and only runs one way.

Exactly -- arguably he won the Rising Star because he plays in a pretty shite team where he was able to get heaps of game time. Ward would have played every game at Brisbane this year too.

And first impressions last longest -- Rich had a good first few weeks, and now everyone thinks he's infallible.

I don't where players numbers on my footy jumper, but after his performance today, and this year generally (given I've only watched the last 4 games), I would without a doubt stick number 14 on the back of mine. The kid is something special and is a joy to watch.

As for Rich, wasn't overly impressed, but then it was not the sort of game he would have impressed on. Given some comments, could he be the next Nathan Eagleton?

Callan Ward is just sensational. But then again so is Rich,also I'd say if Rabblemond had their time over they'd pick ward ahead of Rance who for all his maniac attack on the ball is a poor kick and decision maker

A guy sitting behind me was screaming this out when Ward kicked the goal in the last. Hard to disagree and I turned around and said "I can't believe he came 6th in it". Overall the whole year Rich deserved it but Ward was better than 6th.
