Reid might have been at half-rat power, but the game turned around Hawkins in my opinion, most important player on the ground and while Bartel was deserving, I'd have given it to Hawkins.

Scraggers was duly disappointed with Lonergan, but I can't believe he didn't pick up votes. Cloke was tearing Taylor apart early and looked like he might win the game by himself. Lonergan had kept Dawes quite, then blanketed Cloke for the rest of the game.

Hall would have kicked 6 on Reid. Hawkins' kicking was ordinary and he pushed up the ground too much against an opponent he was clearly dominating.

Hall would have kicked 6 on Reid. Hawkins' kicking was ordinary and he pushed up the ground too much against an opponent he was clearly dominating.

Hall may well have kicked 6, don't know how you can say this though - do you remember his performances in his two GF's? Missed some very easy shots as well and never took the game by the scruff of the neck like Hawkins did.

Hawkins had 7 contested marks (something Hall doesn't specialise in), was arguably the player of the finals series, and the game turned on his contributions. Part of his game-plan was to expose Reid's lack of condition, hence the pushing up the ground, and this was part of what created the two soccer goals which got Geelong back into the game. Him pushing up to create an option was one of the things that enabled the Cats to break down the Pies press by kicking more than handpassing.

Looks like we'll have to agree to disagree, but to say Hawkins won the game in a cameo like Dew is incorrect in my opinion. He was the dominant big man on the ground, and made an impact on the game that few big men have in the last decade or so (7 contested marks, 17 disposals, 3 goals, one goal assist, is a pretty big deal).

I thought the deal was: first goalkicker in Prelim gets same player for first goalkicker in GF.

You're not having troubles. You'd be troubled if you did get it!

It's a Norm Smith Sweep with somewhat unique ways of getting players.

Here's my new game...

Name the first goal kicker for Pies vs Hawks and Cats vs Eagles.

If you correctly name the 1st goal kicker for the winning side you get them in the GF Sweep (yep, this game is even unclear by TRJWNSS). Try this example...

I pick Travis Cloke to be the 1st goal scorer. An Eagle kicks first goal or whatever but Cloke gets the first goal for the Pies and then go on to win. That means I get Cloke in the Sweep. Oh so clear and logical now.

You only get one pick per game. Being the creator and lord of the Sweep, I get advantage of first pick, so here goes.
