I like Phillips - good guy, smart guy. But if he is a first round choice how could he not make the first 25 in a very (very, very) ordinary SA u18 team. Sorry, but that article was commissioned by the SANFL.

I love that we stuck to our guns and picked the player who we wanted. I am completely baffled how our first round selection has improved so much since the end of the season...during which time he hasn't played a single game.

I hope I am wrong, but I was so excited when we picked Higgins, Ward, Roughy and Ace. This year I just feel like we are the laughing stock of the AFL

Howard was the only first round pick that didn't have bio or a picture for christ sake I am warming slightly towards the ex Hawthorn rookie - although let's face it Hawthorn are good are over-rating their players.

Thank god we have Libba and Wallis coming up next year - so we can't stuff that one.

Howard was the only first round pick that didn't have bio or a picture for christ sake I am warming slightly towards the ex Hawthorn rookie - although let's face it Hawthorn are good are over-rating their players.

We may only know in 3 or 4 years time.

I think the point Phillips is making is that he has improved a lot since not being selected for the Carnival - during the last half of the season - culminating in a pretty good performance in the SANFL U/18's final.

The fact that he had risen so much (and from quite a way back) without a draft camp or state screening is interesting though.

It is interesting that he went through so unnoticed, we'll just have to have faith in Dalrymple. I am pleased we seem to have drafted guys with outstanding skill rather than outstanding athleticism who still have to learn how to play the game.

Showing such a big improvement since not getting selected for the state side shows a player with a great attitude, looks to me that he put his head down and worked his butt off.

A B&F actually measures performance over the season, not imporvement since the start of the season.

Using a B&F to measure improvement over the year is like using thermometer to measure speed.

B&F means nothing anyways. Sean Tighe won the Western Jets B&F and didn't get drafted. I hope he gets picked up in the rookie draft.

Be great if we could see some vision of him in action, doesn't really seem to be any though.
