Re: I love the Western Bulldogs
Made me laugh. I remember the days well...unfortunately.Really? We had a W/L ratio of 9.5/12.5 and finished the season with almost half the list out injured. With a much better injury run the following season we finished top 4.
Take your pick out of 1981, 1982, 1989, 1996, 2003, 2004, 2012 and (thus far) 2013. Probably 1989 because we actually lost the club at the end of it. The current team plays as unattractive and unwatchable brand of footy as I've seen in a very long time. The Rohde years were awful but we still scored quite heavily and lost many close games - we haven't even been close to winning a game since mid last season (except the Brisbane game of course).
Those of us old enough and ugly enough to remember the Royce Hart years are still going through therapy!Comment

Only 81 years? Pfffttt... Try 105 years and counting. Go Cubs!
I haven't seen us play for over two years. It seems like ten. That's why I'm hoping I can fly out for our last match against Melbourne and celebrate my 61st birthday. My caregiver responsibilities make it look like a two week trip this time. Just not sure I can even get away for that long. *fingers crossed*

Some would say those that have been going each week for the last two years can say the same.I haven't seen us play for over two years. It seems like ten. Hope you can make it over and we have a big win Chicago. It's better to die on our feet than live on our knees.Comment

2007 bitterly disappointing, coming off what 2006 seemed to mean.Really? We had a W/L ratio of 9.5/12.5 and finished the season with almost half the list out injured. With a much better injury run the following season we finished top 4.

The Cubs have nothing on Hibernian.
1902 was the last time they lifted the Scottish Cup.

Re: I love the Western Bulldogs
These yards are nowhere near harder than 80-82.
Remember going to every game in 1981, in which we won 2!!
I still vividly recall Both wins ,
the Bombers in Sheeds first year( he was close to pulling on the boots)
Melbourne at Waverley ( they won one game against us)
No draft to hang your hat on in those days.Comment

Re: I love the Western Bulldogs
I don't think that in the hundreds of matches that I saw, that I was ever so excited than personally see us play in the Finals for the first time that year. I had tears in my eyes as the boys ran through the banner for the QF. I had tears in my eyes at the end of the match, too: Hawthorn 22.23 155 to Footscray 8.14 62.
Beating North the next week to allow us to play Hawthorn again in the PF was great. However... damn Leigh Matthews. Damn him to hell!

That North semi final was one of my most enjoyable days at the footy. Beazza kicked his 100th, Lally kicked his 50th and The Hawk tore them apart.
