Andrew Rule's writing (and I'm talking about all his writing here, not just this article) is bog standard sensationalist tripe, and before we start giving him more credence than is deserved, the fact that his grammatically-challenged prose wins so-called 'awards' in Melbourne is more a comment on the excreable quality of journalism in that town than the quality of his writing. He is lucky that he writes for a semi-literate audience -- he would be laughed out of any half-credible journalism school that requires the ability to construct a sentence as a minimum.
Muckraking lowlifes like Rule are poster boys for that school of thought that insists that 'no one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of human beings'.
