I was one of the ones that didn't want this"trouble maker" at our club, he changed my mind very quickly, and now I don't want him to go! (But understand why)

I was happy to have him come in as he is clearly a champion player, however I thought his mental state was a risk. He certainly let himself down as a good sport and showed some poor character at times at ST Kilda and Sydney. However, much to his credit he took his second chance and fought hard to win back the respect he deserves.

His performances for us have earned back that lost respect and then some. He has been a star player for us and a real leader, which reflects well on him and us. His last couple of years have been a great lesson in manhood.

You look back at that North game where those cowards tried to get him to throw a few, to the point of chasing him off the field and just think, for a guy with some real troubles around controlling his emotions that was a great effort. Norf thought they were 'defending the right' that day but really, showed their true colours as a bunch of twats, while Hall rose above it all.

Well, as much as I wasn't surprised, I didn't much like being told this news at morning tea today

As most regulars here will know, I'm a huge Bazza fan, and was really excited to hear of him coming to the club. To be honest, I didn't have a strong opinion either way of him beforehand, I'm only interested in the Red, White and Blue!

But his 'chequered' past could very easily have ended things just as badly as in Sydney, and he said as much when he got here. To his credit, Baz knuckled down, and in doing so, gave us Dogs fans a huge amount to get excited about. Not least of which was our win in the NAB Cup. To date, the only silverware I've seen us win,and Barry pretty much won the game off his own boot. And, as others have said, I was there with the "BAAAAARRRRRYYYYY! BAAAARRRRRY!!!!"

He's just awesome to watch when at his best, and the sort of player that, as they say, 'puts bums on seats'. His decision to hang up the boots at season's end shows his respect for the club and team. Bloody champion.

(I need to save some words for after his last game (hopefully not Rd 24!)

I was never a fan of him outside of when he was with the Western Bulldogs and was pretty sceptical when we decided to pursue him. Those thoughts were pretty much thrown out the window when he got here. It's not often a guy spends 2 seasons with the club and feels likes he's been here for so much longer, it feels likes a 10 year servant is retiring. Thanks for a great 2 seasons at the Western Bulldogs Baz and good luck for the future.

I had a laugh when I heard it was Hutchys great scoop on Footy Classified, everyone knew it was a two year contract and knew he wouldnt go on, also I heard a clip on the radio where Hutchy said 3 years at the bulldogs... the blokes a twat, struggling for something this week obviously.

On Barry thanks for the memories at the club you did more than expected and I hope you stick around for the good of our future forwards.
Oh and thanks for the bottle of JB for a winning bet on you not getting reported and found guilty in your first year here.

Perfectly put. He's the one genuine A++ grade superstar on our list (with apologies to Murph, Coons, Griff and 2010 Lake), a real game-breaker that will be impossible to replace, but even more than that, he's a man's man's man. His maturing process since he's arrived has been self-evident, which knocks him up another few rungs in terms of my respect for the guy. Everyone plays taller when this bloke is around. Champion.

I don't want this season to peter out. I want Baz and the rest of the playing group to throw it all on the line for the next 6 weeks, hopefully 10. We have the ability in us to make something of this season, and what better way for Baz to go out of the game with a series of telling contributions assisting us to a 4th consecutive finals series.

Baz has been wonderful for us, and the true value of his time at the club can be seen in Liam Jones clunking 6 contested marks in Sunday and looking completely at home at this level.

Liam seems to have grown in confidence since Bazza returned from injury.

Sad news, but not unexpected. Barry Hall was fantastic for the Bulldogs last year and provided us Bulldogs supporters with a bit of excitement and a return to the good old days of a "real" full forward. If only we would have had him for ten years instead of two... Hopefully the rest of this year will be a productive one for him. Wish I could be there in Round 24 to give Barry the respect he so richly deserves as he leaves the ground for the last time. Thanks, Barry. You were a joy to watch.

Probably worth putting all the hero worship of Barry as a Bulldog into perspective. Whilst he has been good for us, kicked goals and been a great teacher and team man, he has been with us for only 2 years. In that time he has been part of a forward line that tried to kick to him too often. He has been a leading forward of great note but not a pack marker and not a speedy chaser. Of late, he has been injured more often than not.

Barry has had a stellar career (and let's celebrate that), but most of it not with the Bulldogs. He has redeemed himself with the Dogs and the feel good factor is that our culture helped this happen. The feel good factor that he wants to be remembered as a Bulldog. The feel good factor that he is much loved by the players.

I compare him with Chris Grant and wonder how Chris's contribution and sacrifices over so many years for this club could get any more effusive adulation than what Barry is receiving.

Barry is not a 100 game player for us, or a 200 gamer, or a 300 gamer. He is not a legend of the club. Yet reading everything said about him, you would think he was.

I love the way we have found Barry and made him one of our own. Good luck to him as he seems to be a genuine and decent bloke. But I also think we should put his contribution to the Bulldog cause into some perspective.
