On the hardness, I agree it can be frustrating, but I recall a lot of times Higgins goes hard and takes a big impact. I guess he appears less willing to play through injury, and is generally injured more than most.

We'll agree to disagree. Good discussion.

Just on the potential side of things, how long do you let a player live off that?

That's the hardest part I guess. At some point potential has to turn into consistent performance - but at what age, or amount of games? I don't know. Maybe 75-100 games?

It's probably one reason why Gia has never been embraced as much as he should have by a lot of supporters. Some never reach the perceived potential and just become solid-good players. It isn't the end of the world, as long as you have enough A graders/consistent performers around them.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

        That's a bit harsh.
I'm sure he didn't injure himself on purpose.
However, his lack of defensive efforts are rightly sledged.

Come on G38. We can't preach club loyalty for the likes of Ward and others to follow and then be prepared to ship Higgins away because he gets injured. It's not by his design you know.

I get that it's frustrating but it's just a part of football.

It could be a frustration thing on my part & possibly a tad harsh, but it's honestly how i feel some times with him. And the concrete remark wasn't solely based on him being injured a lot (i probably should have clarified that), but also other aspects of his game.

I know that he is somewhat of a flashy player & outside runner, but there comes a time when you need to get dirty for the team & do the tough stuff, i feel he doesn't do that near enough.

I look at Higgins and feel he has lived on so called reputation for far to long, most other players would have been moved on by now.

Although too harsh, Glove38's frustration is pretty well placed.

Injuries aren't a excuse - he just hasn't performed. We've babied him and regularly clutch at straws to find positives, but his form has been dreadful outside of 2 or 3 games.

Agree his attack on the ball/tackling is ordinary.

He's certainly a player that has lived off a false reputation for too long. The media always tend to label him a 'star', but he's been extremely disappointing.

We need a couple flashy outside players like Higgins!

This is one of the first seasons he has played the majority of the season, providing he can get a full preseason under his belt there should be lots of room for improvement in 2012.

Not everyone can be like Boyd etc and play through injury - look at Bwian..

Let's take him out and shoot him... You make it sound like he gets injured on purpose

Before the swans game, Higgins had a pretty good month or so. No coincidence, that when he got some match fitness and moved to half back we had our best games of the season.

As someone else said, I'm sure he's not getting injured deliberately - haven't seen any definitive statement that he's out this week anyway.

Just don't overestimate what Missy can offer. He is a silky mover, but he will never be a Cooney.

His influence and ball use off half back was one of the reasons we strung a few wins together. I am not a big fan, but he deserves his place.

As i mentioned in another post, it wasn't meant to be based solely on his injuries.

I just hope they're legitimate injuries and not just being rested now that finals are pretty much out of the question.

How about getting them into surgery early so they can start preseason on time?

While its mathematically possible to make finals, I doubt Eade or the club would just give up.
