    Re: Realistic expectations V Collingwood

I'm searching for a light at the end of the tunnel. At the moment I can't even see the bloody tunnel.

What worries me most is not tonight's result....I am expecting a 12+ goal defeat. I'm worried about the vitriol on this board after the game. Stand by for a range of usual suspects combined with some new whipping boys to have their careers written off by Woof posters.
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

I actually think we will be competitive. I predict a 5-7 goal loss, but I don't think it'll be a blow out of 80-100 points like a few are suggesting.

I'll be happy if we can kick one goal in the first quarter. As long as Harry o, maxwell and shaw are made to earn their kicks I'll be pleased...don't expect to get within 10 goals tonight though.
I will never see #16 the same!!

I am certainly going with the hope of being more than just competitive.
Minson can give us 1st use as he has a good record against Collingwood, but we need to make use of that and maintain possession.

The run from Sherman, Dahlhaus, Djerrkura as well as Cooney and Griffen needs to be on display.

I have put some hard earned on the Dogs as I feel the line of 39.5 is more than achievable.

Pass mark, to see half a dozen collingwood players get stretchered off.

Good way to look at it. If I see a Bulldog sticker on the back of a car I drive up next to them and give them a thumbs up.

All, this is exactly the type of game we traditionaly win. Then we'll lose to GC, but tonight will be worth it. Everyone is against us so I'm optimistic.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

                Why is everyone so negative?

Collingwood have half their VFL side playing, if we're going to get them it's tonight.
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

The team exceeded all expectations tonight. The ferals on this tram are also living up to all expectations...

I knew we would do the club proud tonight. They wobbled over the line really: that's a fair assessment. Anyone see the vision of Buckley screaming down the phone after the Lake goal? Pure gold. So put your hand up. Who predicted we would get smashed? I seriously think a lot of our players are underestimated by their supporters. Easton Wood was an example of that tonight.

They were a fresh team after 9 days of rest and supporters need to bear that in mind. We won many battles tonight against a better opponent which shows a lot of heart. Loved watching us play.

                      Well said Ghost Dog.

You stood by the boys and have been vindicated tonight. All credit for a positive attitude. Lets hope they continue to trend up over the next few years. Cheers.

How good was Easton Woods game? Just superb. So very disappointing that he did a hammy. We did not look as solid down back after he went off.

Big factor in the final analysis, for what was a relatively tight game. Losing our best performing player on the night up to that point was something we could ill afford.
